My neighbour kindly gifted me a bike for family use. It's a Boardman hybrid with an aluminium frame. At some point someone has drilled a hole in the upper (mono) section of the seatstay close to the seat tube to mount a rack using a self-tapping screw. What do we reckon? Safe as houses or amazed that it's lasted this long?

My point about JGC was not at all to do with quality. I think their quality is very good; I'm just struggling to find coffees from them that match the style of coffee I enjoy. I used to enjoy reasonably dark roasts, so I went to Monmouth Coffee a fair bit. In more recent years I've started to enjoy more fruity coffees with a bit of acid. I'll give JGC another try and pick out some things from their Filter Roast range.

I'm struggling a bit with James Gourmet Coffee. I really like them as a company, but I've yet to have a coffee of theirs that isn't heavily on the "nutty" side. This is in contrast to Yellow Bourbon who seem to produce loads of coffees that have real freshness and zing to them.
Does anyone have recommendations for specific coffees from JGC that have had a bit more life to them (I'm using a V60 FWIW)?

Any other tips for stopping panniers bouncing?
Fill them with bricks?
I've put bungees all the way round panniers in the past, but I think if you hit a big enough bump any pannier will move ever so slightly. I suspect that even a small movement will create wear if it's frequent enough so protecting the rack is probably the way to go.

Already on their way to @CasualLime, I'm afraid.

Thread dredge to post this weird one. My Mavic a119 rims have worn either side of the central wear indicator groove leaving a fairly sharp ridge immediately either side of it. Don't think it's a structural problem but obviously makes the indicator groove a bit pointless. Glad I've got an Iwanson guage that shows them at just over 1mm at the thinnest point so probably due a replacement sometime soon.

It does look nice doesn't it. How many speeds is it @sbbohr and does it have a mech hanger or does it require the type that are clamped onto the side of the dropout with the axle?

I've taken Ginkgo Biloba for a few months to see whether that makes any difference. Really difficult to track as there are so many things like stress that might cause tinnitus to be more noticeable. I recently ran out so I thought it would be a good opportunity to see whether stopping would make it worse. Unfortunately developed a minging head cold at the same time so it's really difficult to tell.
My thoughts exactly. The rack looks like this, which I think is a design that clamps the seat stays between two metal bars. They had to drill an extra, central hole through it, so neither the rack, nor the bike were used as intended.
