I’m doing the Great British Escapade - 480km North and South Downs in June.
Rigid hardtail is currently set up 27.5+ Nobby Nics which have to go as they’re too slow on tarmac. Originally planned to go 29er with a racier XC set up (2.25 Mezcal/Barzo) but I’d need a new wheelset - and I also need some other bits like a very good light and maybe aero bars.
Just found out they make 27.5 2.8in G Ones Allround which could work for the terrain and conditions - and I wouldn’t have to buy new wheelset.
Any thoughts on how much grip I’m going to need in June and which to go for?

I did this last year fully loaded with a rigid fork. The storm drains are brutal on the up and I had to walk most of them (a better bike handler with less kit might be fine), but the descent is super easy and fast down into Fort Augustus. Going the other way would be ridable up and down.
