Second ever night-run last night, so spooky/atmospheric/exciting on the river. Headtorch worse than useless, it was easier to run without it but felt like a creep lol.
Got a bit frustrated at my legs but then got home, checked strava and properly clocked how inconsistent I've been this year - something to work on. -

Mint parkrun this morning. I've moved house so tried out the new local (Wythenshawe) and my pal joined me.
We did the standard "start a bit too hard and cling on for dear life" 5k. He was making noises early on so I thought he'd eventually drop off, but as he stayed with me further and further into the run I started actively trying to drop him, literally threw everything at it. Nearing the end of the last lap I got a little gap that he reeled back just before the last straight - perfect I thought, he must be knackered from that. Nope! He sprints off and had me by a couple seconds. So much fun. Literally threw everything at it, ended the run at 202bpm with vision blurring lol.
He's signed up for the marathon I was thinking about doing so not much chance of a fair all-out rematch for a bit unfortunately.22:34 final time though, which I'm chuffed to bits with regardless of lOsINg tHE rAcE.

Wheels are on their way! Bit of a fuck-it moment with the credit card after a long long fortnight.
Deore x wtb sti23 so nothing special and not particularly wide (a lot wider than what was on the 26" though so) but will do the job of holding tyres and rotating just fine. Pretty excited! If anyone has a nice-ish but cheap headset knocking about, I might be interested

Just done another go at that men's health amrap posted upthread
5x:
10x
Squat
Reverse lunge
Bent over row
Shoulder press
Hammer curl
Devil pressWith 4kg dumbbells
Honestly fuck devils presses. Horrendous things. It's a solid fullbody workout though for 20 minutes investment. Now to find the motivation to do it again soon

Not sure why I'm posting on this, I'm not particularly invested in it, but selection is still not passing training:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Marines_selection_and_trainingAnecdotally I had a colleague who was monstrously fit and struggled to become a reserve royal marine, and was a thoroughly broken man every time he came back from training/exercise weekends.

Similar reasons for me, big fan. Do wonder about going back to barend sometimes though. Fairly sure I bought my dt shifters from you actually @jontea ?!

Thank you, some encouraging stuff in there - we've been keeping walks small and functional and keeping her downstairs on the whole so good to hear it's along the right lines! The concept of "emptying the stress bucket" we've heard about seems to fit with our experience with the dog so far.
We're lucky in that the intense experiences with other dogs weren't aggressive, it was play, but now Daisy just wants to be near other dogs as much as possible. When we get to longer walks we'll be back to limiting exposure to others as much as possible. She's just snuck back into her crate for a snooze!!

Daisy update:
Things are moving backwards at the moment unfortunately. A couple of intense interactions with other dogs have meant she's been getting reactive again after we'd been making some progress.
Otherwise, we had to move house, which has caused a load of stress. The dog has been sneaking onto the bed overnight and even making attempts at getting into the bed. She's 23kg, so we've been constantly knackered with disturbed sleep. SO we're trying to make changes in the new house - encouraging a bit more separation.
The hope is, she'll sleep downstairs in crate, we'll sleep upstairs. Crate is bought and has her bed in it, she's ignoring it of course but it's just day 2 so it's okay. We're sleeping in the living room with her to try and get her used to being down here overnight.
The current plan is:- let her get comfortable with this being her new home
- start building up her alone time downstairs during the day
- get her comfortable with choosing the crate in that time
Let's see. We're struggling at the moment as she's really very attached but still persevering.
- let her get comfortable with this being her new home

I managed a long time with flat-ish guards (sks edge al ) and knobbly tyres, and honestly it was so good to not have to worry about getting constantly caked. They finally gave up though and need replacing - considering mudhugger style too. The edge al guards were a faff to make work (I swapped out stays) and I'd struggle to recommend them overall tbh
