Either of those would be a good buy, both brands are well regarded and offer good value for money: the Pinnacle just edges it, having 9-speed Sora rather than 8-speed Claris.

Decathlon's B'Twin bikes are also great value: for £500 you could get a Triban 520, which the reviews rave about. You get a full groupset, whereas the other two have non-Shimano cranks and brakes. Not a deal-breaker and perfectly serviceable, but the Sora cranks use an external BB as opposed to the square taper BB on the other two.

While we're ganging-up on you, I'll chip-in to suggest that when you swap the bars, it presents the ideal opportunity to correct the rear brake cabling!
