this is a massive bargain

You could make your money back on the cranks alone.

You didn't post an opinion: it was a criticism of the advice previously offered (to buy 2nd hand).
Chain's and cassettes are consumable items, so whether you buy a 2nd hand bike or a new one, they will need replacement.
Why you think a used bike will probably need a new crank is anyone's guess.
Perhaps the advice to buy 2nd hand needs clarification: "don't buy a fucked 2nd hand bike".

Assuming there is nothing written on the brake levers, the Ergo shifters are 8 speed and either '93 Veloce or '94 Athena/Veloce/Stratos. From '95 the groupset was written on components and from 9 speed on, the number of gears was also noted.
I don't know that all four of these levers were the same model, but your photos and my catalogue scans aren't good enough to tell the difference.
The cranks aren't Record, which had the 5th spider arm hidden behind the crank arm. Like HB says, they look like 1st gen. Chorus, on account of the way the lip rises up around the crank bolt.

Good example? http://bit.ly/WJZZj1
Slightly better price for you. Spend another £9 on bits and it'll only cost you £21!
I bought one recently and can confirm it is ISO.

Fits my large bonce.

Lfgss by Casa-Steve, on FlickrDo the caps also amplify brain waves, or could you cause bikes to levitate before?
Keeping my fingers crossed for x-ray vision and something along the lines of "water into wine"...
