Edit: minis are £600 ish new, so I'd buy that new tho
Edit, Edit: is it worth getting a second hand mini to shave £100 or whatever off? Or better to just get a new one?
Apple refurb base-model minis are £589 (£699 new). These only have 8 GB RAM though and it’s not upgradeable. They also have some refurb iPhone 11 and 12 on the site.

lol, no but you obviously fell hook, line, and sinker for the marketing
I really didn’t. The performance of the Apple M-series chips is way better than the Intel chips Apple were using previously. I’m still using a ten year old Intel MacBook Pro on a daily basis and it will definitely keep me warm during the Winter, but the sound of the fans ramping up every half-hour or so gets pretty annoying.

It's not a slight exaggeration, it's bullshit (no offense).
I was under the impression that @Jameski already had a Mac and was looking to upgrade. Apologies if I have misunderstood the situation.
I've always had old Macs

I've been put off by apparently apple changing their intel or whatever meaning everything will become immediately obsolete. Not sure if that's right tho, this kind of thing isn't my thing. If I'm going to drop a grand I'd rather it last at least a little while.
Correct, the old Intel machines are (more or less) obsolete now. The current machines have Apple’s own M1 and M2 processors (and their Pro and Max variants).
Should probably mention I'd like to use it for video editing and Photoshop/ design
You’ll need 16 GB RAM for this. You won’t get anything new for £1000, so I’d look for a used Mac Mini M1 or 13-inch MacBook Pro M1 with that amount of RAM. If you can stretch to it a refurb Mac Studio (£1799) would be a great buy which will last you for years. You will need a decent 4K or 5K screen to plug it into.

I've got a new baby incoming so I wanted to move my record player up high out of the way. I got a really long phono lead, and some connectors to join it to the one fixed into the record player. Now I have terrible feedback and humming. Any ideas why this might be?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a guide for using a Raspberry Pi as a VPN for the whole wifi network? I'm assuming this will be the cheapest way to get this done but would welcome other suggestions.
No idea about raspberry pi, but I have an ASUS router which can run a VPN for your whole LAN. Good luck with Virgin, their network seems to have gone to shit in the last few months.

Went to another branch of Waitrose to try and get SHOUTY CAPS today. Spent ten minutes searching in vain, then asked a member of staff to help. He checked on his handheld terminal and confirmed that they had none in stock. He did, however, confirm that they will be getting more in tomorrow. May go back after my flu jab as I will be needing a pick-me-up, no doubt.

You have to record a short video describing the damage and upload it to the website. Couldn’t have been easier when my partner had half the parts stolen off her bike. When Evans said they couldn’t get a replacement fork for her Pinnacle, Laka wrote it off and ordered her a new bike of her choice from any supplier. Even allowed her to top up the cost beyond the insured value.
