I panic bought a pair of seal skin socks for a night ride I did and they are surprising me. Still toasty after a 30 min ride in Vans LPE, but it's only 30 mins.
I use these when needed in the snow (boarding). Maybe they might help?
Or is that called "softening up"? -
My mate Simon has just announced their Whisky Fight Night.
Current early bird tickets are £20 and you get a cocktail and at least 6, moar if you're sneaky!
Last time was awesome, fight/debate in council chamber-like room.
This time, they have a boxing ring. Each round, two whiskys you get to taste, the fighters take you through their one. You taste, vote, then you find out which was which.
I'll be there. Come say hai!

In a similar recipe, tried Tim Maddam's (Hugh's 3 Good Things) Pasta
Was ok, sausage was the highlight, needed loads of parmesan for more unami.
Should have done Allegra's pasta instead - the winner. -

Waitrose, some non-Waitrose supplier.
Lightly season breasts.
Normal pan fry skin-down first.
Length of time was quite a while, despite it being med-rare, as the fillets were quite large. I used the finger to thumb technique for testing doneness.
Finish with a quick re-fry on the skin side to crisp up again.
I tried to rest the meat, but I was just way too hungry! -

So I did the perfect duck breast last night with the perfect skin and perfect pink in the middle.
Caramalised onions in butter and poured residual butter into the mash.
Added the snowpeas to up it to the 3 veg count.
Served with some of my home-made plum sauce.Half the duck was eaten standing up in the kitchen just after I plated.
This may be one of the most delicious meals I have made for myself.
I can't stop looking at the picture. -

ordered Rapha baselayer
#hypocriticalgulliblemonochromaticsufferstatternthatiam
you will not regret! Bought loads of base layers in my time, use them for boarding and cycling, and have a slight merino obsession (blame cult Kookai.au products) but Rapha's base are really great!
meanwhile, love love love my rapha winter hat literally has saved my life (-2 overnight ride) and is a boomerang, dropped it, walked off twice and it's come back to me.

I got some from a ski shop.
Also those pound shops have something similar, "Heat Pads". You can get a good deal there. Just look out for the expiry date. :)
