Tried searching for this, without luck.
I'm using the Sugino Messenger RD2 crankset with the 103 mm BB. This gives me a 45 mm chainline, unfortunately my wheel has a 42 mm chainline and my chain is being pretty noisy.
I was told it was a bad idea to try to space the rear cog as there's so little thread on there, so I need to change my crankset/BB.
Can I change the BB to get a 42mm chainline with my current crankset?
Do I have any other (cheaper/easier) options?
Thanks.

Thanks for your comment. Sounds good with regards to the straps.
I actually wanted to get rid of the mudguards. Don't really want to change too much, however I need new wheels if I'm gonna convert it to fixed and the current ones are pretty ratty as well.
I get what you mean with regards to the overall character of the bike, which I don't want to change either. Hopefully I can keep it understated and classic looking, just with nicer parts.
I actually have a pair of north road bars (or something very similar at least) lying around, maybe I'll give those a go.

So, having just recently finished my Koga Miyata build, the time has come for my other bike.
It's a Raleigh Competition with 531 tubing. Serial number says it was built in 1980 at the Worksop factory in England, which it also says on the frame "Craftsman built by Carlton Cycles, Worksop England".
It's currently built up as a singlespeed bad weather bike (hence the raceblades), but it's actually a fairly nice frame in decent condition, so I figure it would be a bit of a shame not doing something more with it, also I want to convert it to fixed.

Here's what I'd like to change:
**Wheels: ** I'm thinking anodized box (Open Pro CD, H+son tb14, Mavic MA-40) rims with gumwall tires, silver spokes and high flange hubs. Something like these, should give it a nice classic look:
http://www.pedalroom.com/p/cinelli-mash-bolt-2012-3830_6.jpg
The only problem is that those rims are all fairly expensive, does anyone know of any other rims which look similar, but are a bit more affordable?
I'm hoping I can find some used, but that's a waiting game at this point.
Chain and cog: I'm keeping the cranks, BB and chainring. The chainring is a 52t stronglight, so a 19t cog should give it a nice ratio for fixed. Chain: KMC Z610 Premium HX Chain - 3/32".
Handlebars and stem: 38 cm Nitto B105AA bullhorns and an 80mm stem, as I mostly ride on the hoods.
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/images/products/medium/22290.jpg
Brake levers: No idea, I like riding on the hoods, so no crosslevers, something comfortable. Any suggestions?
Also does anyone know of brake hoods which could be matched to fx. dark brown bar tape? Or do I need to stop being so anal and just get black ones.
Brake cables: Silver ones instead of black.
Bar tape: I have Brooks antique on another bike, which I'm quite happy with and I'm thinking it would match the saddle. However I'm a bit unsure if the dark brown combined with black hoods (if I can't get matching hoods) would look bad and I'd be better off just getting black tape? Or maybe save some cash and just get something entirely different, fx. tan cinelli cork?
Pedals: Thinking MKS Sylvan Road or Track, they seem to be the same, except the Road is a bit wider? Would one be preferable for double toe straps and cages?

http://www.totalcycling.com/images/large/18785_062623.jpgCages and straps: MKS Steel Toe Clips - Deep Twin. I'm kind of unsure about straps. I want double straps, however it seems they're either complete crap, or really expensive. Does anyone have experience with the BLB extrastrong freestyle straps? Or any other suggestions that cost around £40?

Anyways, all suggestions and ideas are welcome, so let me know what you think.

gridds: I think that's the old version of the Brooks bar tape, which has been replaced with the perforated version. So it's probably gonna be pretty hard to get a hold of new at least.
Cinelli makes some non-perforated, but it's somewhat lighter in color and has lots of logos: http://s.wiggle.co.uk/images/cinelli-leather-btape-zoom.jpg

So, interestingly, the bike is actually built by a different De Rosa (than the usual one from Milan), this one from somewhere around Naples. Found this post: http://italiancyclingjournal.blogspot.de/2009/11/other-de-rosa.html
The ad states that it's built with Columbus Maxium tubes (similar til Gilco), other than that, it doesn't really provide much information.

Been drooling a bit over this: http://kleinanzeigen.ebay.de/anzeigen/s-anzeige/berlin/fahrraeder/herren/u8900097
The price is ~£665 and is negotiable. Is it worth it? It certainly looks pretty and in fairly good nick.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was trying to do.
I get what you're saying about the pedals, they do look slightly clunky, would be great if they were just slightly smaller. However, I really had problems finding all black pedals with room for the straps and those were ~£15.
If anyone has suggestions for pedals that would fit, it'd be appreciated!
Oh and cool thread, some nice kogas in there :)

Thanks a lot guys :) Glad to hear all the research paid off. I was literally dreaming about the build for a while.
I've been wondering if I should throw a Brooks (B17?) saddle on there instead of the Turbo?
I originally didn't, as they're so expensive and thought they were slightly overused as well. Also, I was hoping that the bar-tape would end up matching the Turbo saddle with a bit of wear, however this doesn't really seem to be happening.

Hey, just posted my own Koga build here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread83755.html, if you're looking for inspiration :)

So, this is my very first build. I've actually been lurking this forum for a while gathering information, which has been a great help. So I reckon it's only fair that I post some pictures now that it's done.
I'm slowly getting used to riding fixed, definitely with the occassional "oh, shit!!" moment in there, however it does feel like I'm progressing and I've not fallen off yet. Riding my singlespeed now feels slightly disconcerting. So basically I've ended up being slightly freaked out both when riding fixed and singlespeed.
I ended up with two brakes because the Berlin police are fairly insistent that you should have two brakes on your bike (they'll take the bike if not) and the frame kind of needs two brakes as well.
Anyways, parts list:

Crankset: Sugino Messenger RD2 165 mm - 44 t - 1/8"
