How easy / tricky is it for a total novice to convert a freewheel to fixed with a BB lockring?

( i think i need to do it - instead of having a SS bike with only one brake to stop with - but having spoke to a guy in a bike shop, he seemed not really keen on doing it)

My Bianchi managed to get put together 15 minutes before our van departed for the Retro in Oudenaarde last month, which meant that I got to do a first shakedown run of the 30 year old bird, cracked tires and vintage brake pads and all, on the cobblestones and descents of Belgium. Held up like a charm, and looked the bit too!

Hi Dave, would love to see any pics from the Retro ride, especially of how your Bianchi ended up too. Sounds great. Glad you got it ready in time.

My Merckx will finally be ready next week I hope. I spent a long time deliberating over pedals. '92 seemed to be a year when Campag were still doing toestraps, but also just bringing clipless too.

In the end I opted for toestraps. And it's taken me a long time to source the pedals. But I got 'em finally last week. There's a couple of bits I don't have tools for, so it's going to the shop on Friday to have a couple of things done, then hopefully I'll be riding it next week.

The 26 mm is the stem clamp size, where your crosstopTM levers clamp the bar's od will have decreased (the stem clamp area will be sleeved or bulged) down to 23.8 mm IIRC.

If i've got standard road bars (so stem is 26.4mm clamp size) what size crosstop lever fit 'em?

I just got hold of some Campagnolo Record Pista pedals, to go with Pista Crankset, both are the same threading...but it doesn't seem to take. Are they a bit fiddly ? Do I need a special thingymebob?

Yeah, it's alright. But the work produced for Halfords so far is pretty disappointing by the agency's standards. Especially when they (Halfords) lauded it as a 'game-changing' idea for their business.

We lost the pitch for this work, so I'm taking it too personally ;) But I was annoyed on seeing it, 'cos our work and positioning was better than this. Still, you win some, you lose some. I just don't know where we lost this one.
