Awesome stories and photos! Thanks for sharing! I was just wondering how stressful it is to pack and transport the bike to airports and all that? I found it already a big hassle with my 'normal' bike and 4 panniers. And what speed would you guys normally cruise on a flat road without wind? Don't know much about tandems but I'm getting pretty excited reading all of this.

Thanks! It seems like an awesome country for cycling! I like the idea of getting a nice Japanese bike there, a Bridgestone or so but I guess you're right that it will be difficult.

Does anyone have experience with buying a second hand bike in Japan. Not to export but to use while I'm there. Are the prices for bikes similar to Europe? Would it be hard to find a big size (I'm 6'5). Cheers!

Awesome plan, go for it! You will always have doubts about the plan, but once you start it's always easier than you thought it would be. And if it turns out you really don't like it or you feel unsafe you could always take a flight and continue cycling somewhere else.

I like to build a new touring bike and I'm looking for a frameset but I can't really find what I'm looking for... I'd love a velo orange camargue but they don't make these frames anymore. What I want; canti bosses, clearance for 700x2.0, 1 1/8" ahead, steel, long chainstays, long headtube. A 700c lht would work but I like something less boring... Does anyone have any recommendations? Do I need to go custom?

Nice Intec build! Why did you decide for 26" after the Vagabond. I'm after a new touring bike and like the Intec but I've always been fine with my 700x40c tyres, even on rough roads in Asia so I'm not sure if I should stick to that..
