24 hours later and look at the weather!
Glad to see there's some interest in having another go at this and ^ would be lovely to have you along Bernie.
My weekends in London are rather few and far between over the summer but there's the odd gap in July / August. Will have a think and get a new thread up in the next little while.
Damn it! What a day that would have been in this weather!

I've been really looking forward to this for ages, and brought my bike up to my parents' house to get some miles in and everything. But in doing so I think I've uncovered a problem that may cause me to have to wet the bed on this.
There's something wrong either with my riding position (or more likely) with my body, which meant that after a 56-mile ride today my back was in serious pain, and it still doesn't feel right now. In the wake of the nasty spasm/twist/feeling like I was permanently gnarled thing I had a few months back I think it would be best to hold off 50 mile + rides until I've got to the bottom of it.
Even the wind and rain wouldn't have put me off, I've been out in that all week. I'm not completely out yet, but 90%.:(
I'm no doctor but don't mess with backs.

Approaching the ped crossing outside Baker street station, heading west down Marylebone road at about 20 mph, road largely clear 40m from lights, lots of green left so got on with it when a ped from each side start crossing, no probs they'll be gone by the time i get there so only slow up to let them clear the middle of the crossing. Then utter dickhead just starts marching out two steps behind the guy in front without looking. This means the centre won't be clear and neither will the edge of the crossing due to the first two guys, two loud shouts do nothing, end up missing her by 10cm at about 15 mph.
Did i mention it was also raining?

I think I've also seen pipe man at junction of Hampstead Road/Euston Road.
On reflection less of a danger to himself and others than umbrella man I saw negotiating the same, incredibly windy junction.
umbrella man= man cycling with an umbrella? That sounds like a boss to me. Provided he didn't disappear down a side street following a particular gust of wind!

Can people please start splitting themselves between the fast group and the sociable group. Can you also please indicate either Fixed or geared.
The slower group: 100k
Circa 4 - 4.25 hours including stops
Sociably paced 15 average with "comfort breaks" if/when required.
No one will be dropped.
If you like a nice ride with good company and the occasional chat this is the one for you.1) Skydancer - TBC
2) Mothergirl - Fixed
3) Hairnet - SS
4)
5)
6)
etcThe fast group - 2*100k:
Sub 3 hours out.
6pt reckons he could do it 19-20mph average solo so we'll be looking to improve on that as a group. I will also endeavour to teach him that his choice of unit is inferior.
People doing the fast ride one way will be frowned upon (unless they happen to carry on for a solo century warm down).1) Hillbilly - Geared
2) Dammit - Geared
3) Object - Geared (Assuming I can convince someone to lead the other group)
4)
5)
6.pt - Geared
etcStill to confirm group:

Was that you? Me and my hungarian friend said hello, (I was wearing my white peugeot cap). Then on Saturday I saw a heerd of Zebra cyclists... I was starting to think I'd had a funny turn...
