Do those all count as ISPs and are they all active? Broadband comparison sites quote ‘over 150 providers’ for domestic broadband (which is what we’re talking about here) and 85% of households are with 4 providers, not leaving a lot else to go round… I can’t see a company of 250 being sustainable on a few hundred subscribers. Although I suspect most are inactive or setup to service a single company/building/campus/etc.
Anyway, I agree with all your other points!

I could only find numbers for the US on my phone:
1410 ISPs
271k people employedNot sure how comparable that is though as the landscape involved is different!
If 3/4 of jobs really are duplicated (and don’t need to scale with customers), surely that’s a great argument for combining? The cost to provide the service will plummet.
Edit: not sure how about this source but it’s way off your numbers - 735 companies, 25.6k employed https://www.ibisworld.com/united-kingdom/market-research-reports/internet-service-providers-industry/

I’ve just tested positive for the first time - totally baffled by the gov advice. Stay home for 5 days but don’t worry about it if you can’t?! Don’t bother testing even if you think you have it?! Can’t get a free test unless in specific at risk categories but can’t report a result if you buy your own anyway?!

I did the ride part of a Bikesafe course on Sunday, 140 miles of mixed roads with a police observer for half of it. Mostly about positioning and interesting to see how much of the road they use and how early they use it but otherwise confirmed that I don’t like riding back lanes that would be ideal for cycling!
Had a squirrel and a fox run out almost into my wheels. -

There is also a point where insurers consider the work irrelevant - comparison sites aren’t nuanced enough but when I’ve spoken to insurers directly, I’ve been told that they’re not interested in historic work over X years (our house was underpinned late 80s). There remains an increased excess for subsidence (£1k) but the premium itself is not high.

Multipigs were great at Glastonbury but the sound was shit in person (dunno about TV). Nova Twins on after them had the most brutal chainsaw bass/guitar tones I’ve heard for years! Midrange that bites chunks out of you whilst stamping on your chest 👌
