Thanks guys. Ridge is Striding Edge on Helvellyn. Found it really hard to get anything even remotely original of it! Must be the most photographed ridge out there.

If you are in a situation like a race where you will have people coming down constantly and you can pick your spot then the focus trap technique (focusing on the point then waiting) can work quite well as you have loads of chances to tune it in properly. Also the faster the shutter the better

With 25c tyres I tend to go 85 front 90 rear with gatorskins (because they are solid as f**k) and with my 23c bontrager tyres i tend to go 110 rear and 105 front

I recently got a 7D. Love it so far (17-85 IS lens). A quick question, does anyone know if you can get a focus beep in AI-Servo mode? I suspect the answer will be a quick no. But surely worth a punt -

Just heard of many tales of carbon clinchers exploding on the descents. (Im sure the number of explosions is small compared to the number riding carbon rims, but all the same)

Tubs or clinchers? After the Alps this summer I have a deep fear of carbon clinchers :S (not from personal experience mind)
