Nice work mate, looks excellent. Can really appreciate you getting it all done in Kenya especially. Wouldn't worry too much about the stem - whatever is comfiest for you is best: can't imagine a too aggressive riding position is ideal for Nairobi roads/traffic. How did you manage to find the tyres in the end? and what you gunna do about flats - can't image 700c tubes are easy to find. Glad I could be of assistance as well.

Why clean the old sticky off? It's free glue?!
I always use additional bits of doublesided tape when wrapping for extra stick.
depends, if it's coagulated and you are using cotton bar tape it will form bumps under the tape.
Spent many an hour with the bankcard getting glue off the bars - its the only use for it cos theres no money in there.

not to get into an argument, but sometimes it's fun to just build a bike. Plus, it's not easy to do well. Every try it from the ground up? When you're done take a photo and see if it gets any replies in one of the readers wives threads, Let alone posted here.
Aww, thought we were having an adult conversation for a moment then. You've lapsed into cliches and insults. Never mind.
Hope you achieve your goal of getting a bike (built from the ground up) reposted on this forum. That will be a momentus time for you and your family.

You can't appreciate a bike unless it's been ridden, I can't appreciate a bike unless the valves are aligned properly. It's the variety of life that gives it its flavour, non?
Well, that's a very post-modern stance you take and I can appreciate the argument but if life was simply an infinite number of different ice cream flavours it would be a very strange place. Most people know chocolate, vanilla and mint-choc chip are the best flavours and more of these will be sold. As humans we classify things, in from the chaos. To me 'a bike', is something you do. photography or engineering or symmetry is a different category of thing. not that I don;t appreciate these things.

Here's my two pennys worth on this thread - it's less bike porn and more photography porn.
Does anyone ride half these bike? or do they just keep them in showrooms, museums, sheds and polish them every second of the day. I can't take any bike seriously as porn unless it looks like its being ridden, like someone is getting the enjoyment out of it, like its being lived. Isn't that what its all about bike = man+machine in symbiotic relationship?
