Is there an agreed upon age when you qualify for MAMIL-dom? Is the branding inescapable or can lycra somehow be worn during one's middle age without it? If one stays away from lycra for a number of years, can you start wearing it without shame again after turning 60 or so? Had an excellent commute this morning, in retrospect. So much snow I couldn't open the front door at first, lots of shoveling to get to bike shed, realise biking is not an option as no roads/paths have been properly cleared. Buses not running. Find a tram that runs into icy tracks after two stops and lets everyone off. No cabs about. Zombie apocalypse imminent. Decide to walk to work! Took 50 mins and was absolutely lovely. Best 'really late for work' experience evah /csb

All the snow melted away and then froze to ice two days later. Everything now covered in 5 cm thick ice. Studded tyres helping a bit but it takes a bit of zen getting used to my commute being 30 mins instead of 15 now. At least the wider range cassette I got has proven useful.

Yes. Sand off the paint and roughen up the ferrule too, and make sure everything is f***ing clean (acetone or spirit) before gluing.

The sleeves can be different lengths too, which confused me even further. I had a sleeve for 73 mm shells and it obviously prevented the one side from going in all the way. I found an old sram sleeve and bodged it in place. Just an idea as ck also supply different sleeve lengths.
