'Local shop' as in 'not a chain shop', i.e. independent and mostly small-ish. I used to go to the Morrison's (which back then was Safeway), too, before I switched to using almost only local shops, and I occasionally buy travel snacks at Wholefoods (and did when it was still Fresh & Wild, and I think before then it was part of another London mini-chain, but I can't remember its name). It wasn't so much aimed at you but at all of the other considerations of only chain shops when to me they don't figure at all. Let's just hope we can defeat the idiotic Wilmer Place development with a Sainsbury's in it ... not massively hopeful, though.
Oh right! I always though 'local' shops meant those really near me. So, is a 'corner shop' a 'local' shop, not just one on the junction of two streets?

I created an account last night during my order and was able to see the couple of orders I put in but now it claims to know no knowledge of my email address.
think I can agree their site is shite.
Hmmm... hope it's not something to do with using a code that maybe wasn't for general use?
Site seemed ok for me, but i didn't look around it much.

Don't any of you lot ever shop at local shops? You can get coconut oil in most of them in the Stoke Newington area. I imagine the excellent Food for All in Cazenove Road probably stocks it, but there are certainly plenty of 'normal' food shops that do.
Both Morrison and Whole Foods are 'local' to me. They also happen to be the last two food shops I visited. Is that allowed?

Good to hear all the positive reviews of Foxlow! Will definitely be purchasing a gift voucher for the sibling.
Also, I want to make the banana / PB / oat bars from here (combination of three of my favourite ingredients), but dunno where to find coconut oil - it's not in the Stoke Newington Morrisons or Whole Foods.
Any ideas? Or do you reckon I could get away with just using butter and adding some desiccated coconut for flavour?

These are one of my favourite pieces of rapha kit ever. perfect for running in the cold as well.
I would quite like one of these too. Damn rapha and its addictive properties.
The belgian hat is wayyyy too hot, but my bonce does get pretty cold in just a cap. However, I do like having a peak to shield my face from all the sun we get in the english winter.

JERSEY HELP PLEASE!!
Want a new long sleeve for xmas, a good all rounder for Autumn and Spring (and winter if I HTFU)... am thinking either Pro team or standard long sleeve.
I have the PT Jacket and it's pretty much the greatest thing ever, are the PT Jerseys equally awesome? Do they offer much warmth (particularly with comparison to the normal long sleeves)? And is there much difference in fit?

^ Ooh, new toys?
Which beans did you enjoy the most, Jim? I'm really liking Alchemy (Federation's new provider) but their stall was constantly busy so I gave up trying to talk to them.
However, I did try a few Xmas blends and the entire range of Nuun whilst waiting for Branwen - so was VERY VERY CAFFEINATED by the end.
The awesomely nice dude who runs the roasting plant at alchemy did me a macchiato with the really fruity espresso beans they had and it blew my mind! Definitely going to get some, you can order online (or maybe pick it up, the roaster is in Wimbledon).
Also really dug the EPO, which I bought a flat white of. Not sure what the blend was I tried though.
Could have quite happily kept walking round and round just browsing at the stuff. My two favourite things in one place! However, my brain would have exploded with all the free samples and my wallet would have been empty. Would have also been very content....

I've been meaning to post in here for a while, but never got around to it.
I'm working in Australia for a month or so and flew my bike out. Working nights means I can be out from about 6am and ride up until 11/12 when it starts to get too hot for my Irish blood.
It's beautiful countryside here. Lots of tropical rainforest, volcanic ranges with some peaks at about 3500 feet and as it's coastal you can do long flat rides too. Cycling heaven.
As this is the weekend rides thread, here's mine from Sunday.

There's a national park called Springbrook that is a decent climb, though I'd never done it from the west. So I decided to give both ascents a go. I'm no climber, so why I thought this would be fun I have no idea and truth be told I didn't enjoy the second ascent much at all. But the view from the top is worth it.

(Not my pic)
I was so bloody slow that my Garmin gave up the ghost as I limped home, missing off the last 20 miles and another 1200 feet.
Beastly. Very jealous.
Nothing on the mighty peaks of Essex though.
Do I watch hunger games tonight? Yay or nay? Is it as good as hype implies?
