OK, thanks. I had a feeling it may be fairly unfriendly and over-subscribed. Have been having a brief hunt around for other options in the SE - am not that bothered about the repute or scale, just want something with a decent route and good organisation.
They cunningly haven't included costs on the website yet for Richmond Park - how much was it when you did it?

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, which I imagine it has been, but anyway...
Has anyone ever done this before? http://www.thelondonduathlon.co.uk/index.php/admin
Am thinking of trying to get a spot on the 55k event (10k run / 40k ride / 5k run) and was just wondering if anyone has any experience of it / know anything about it.
The idea of a duathalon has only recently started appealing to me, so I know nothing about them really. However, I can run and I can ride... how hard can it be?
Admittedly, I'm better at longer distances on the bike rather than flat out for an hour type stuff. I imagine the final ride - run transition must be fairly torturous on the legs too... But at the moment I'm thinking of doing it for the experience rather than toppling world records.

A tiny bit of detail on stage three here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2013/jan/17/tour-de-france-2014-olympic-park
Pretty ace that it will be going through Epping, probably gonna hit a few of the roads I ride on at the weekends!

Can anyone suggest some good 6-10 mile routes that end in Shoreditch ideally staying off of mainroads/pavements?
I start and finish in stoke newington and tend to head to the canal / viccy park / lea river, you can make it as long as you need really. It's always pretty pleasant around there, but don't particulary like the canal when it's still dark firstthing in the morning. Don't think it's possible to devise a route without some main road / pavement bits though

Anyone into the bronx? they're plaing the underworld in feb.
they've definitely gone off the boil since the first album, but they're a top live band so worth going to see.
I'm getting the impression people aren't interested, but if they are, tickets for this are selling pretty quick I think. One of the two nights has sold out already.
Just booked my ticket - face value was £16, total charge was £20 after all the bullshit booking fees etc. Cheers SeeTickets, thieving cnuts.

Got the lady an aeropress for xmas and just starting to get the process dialled in. Have to say I thought it was gonna be another overhyped gimmick but its actually my fav way to make coffee now. Living in Norway its hard to get decent beans at an ok price so we've been using up the last of our drip/filter-ground stuff and I've been really surprised with the results.
Here's my recepie for anyone thats interested
Inverted method
22g coffee
add 100ml 80°C water and stir
add another 100ml water and brew for 45 seconds
flip the aeropress and press for 25-30 seconds until hiss
add a drop of water to tasteThe only problem is I'm finding the plunger quite hard to push down, could this be the filter disc or maybe the grind?
I think that's because the grind is too coarse.
I love the aeropress, a cafetiere just doesn't cut it anymore (unless I'm making coffee for loads of people).
Never tried inverted, but should give it a go - will prevent those drips that go through before i can get the plunger in for the brewing period...

Seen cult of luna a number of times, just interest me less and less with each passing album
I think the thing with Luna is that you need to listen to each album without trying to compare it to the previous one. Each of their albums have been really different to each other, but keep the core ideas.
I do agree that Eternal Kingdom was a bit weak though. The first three albums blow my mind every time I listen

Finally got photobucket to work.
This is straight after it was done so looking pretty red and angry. To be honest, I was hoping that she was going to make some of the ends of the branches a bit thinner, and that's what we'd agreed (and what it looked like on the transfer). Ah well, it's there now. Still chuffed with it!
(Apologies for the enormousness of the pic)

wow... first tatt ever done today - 2 1/2 hours of pain ranging from the very tolerable to the teeth-clenchingly, toe-curlingly nasty.
had a bottle of coke and a banana through the process to keep the energy levels up, was so ridiculously tired when it finished! have had to drink some rum this evening to kill off the buzz / pain.
pics to follow.
