Hey James, yes I certainly would!!
Also in the article on your website about Jack Wood's bike
I cycled to Richmond park last summer to watch the men’s Olympic road race and just as we found our chosen viewing point I was rushed at by a very excited young man shouting “STAN PIKE”.That would have been me...

Hey clubman, how do you mean, I'm not sure it could sit any other way, but it would be good to know what alternative you have in mind..
Funny to hear you reference Ken Ryall as that is where my interest in Stan started. I had a Ken Ryall from about 1966 and when looking into who was building there at that time his name did surface. My Ken Ryall had been written off in a small car crash ( not the incident I mention in the op ) but I knew that when I did replace it, it would be with a certified Stan Pike.
A lot of KRs have the wrap around seat stays which you can still find on very early Stan Pikes but if my previous frame had been build by him that's about where the similarities end. Where as the first may have been the work of a talented youngster this one is pure craftsmanship and expertise. Sorry if that sounds a bit like I'm blowing my trumpet but the second I saw it I thought it was amazing. The the weight distribution is fantastic and it is light.
Good bit of knowledge shared there clubman on the reasons 753 are lighter than 531 but this is SO much lighter than the 531 and 531c I have had before that I'm amazed it's just the forks and the head tube. -
The first thing I am focusing on next is the drive chain. I want to get that all sorted so I have my seat position about right before I start tinckering with stem lengh. I have a 100mm stem that I will start with and go from there but I think that I may be moving up as on my other 56's I have a 110mm and a 120mm.
But back to the drive chain for now, I have a arabesque rear mech that is in good condition and isn't too far off period wise, it also comes in alot cheaper that trying to find all parts campy.
The aim is too keep most parts predomidantly silver with out over chroming it.
I love bikes that come alive in the sun light and that's what I want this to be, this is my sunshine build.
So to keep this motto up I have got a Sun Tour chain covered in lots of tiny rising suns. You dont get much more sunshine than that.In terms on getting a saddle on, I will be cleaning up a campg nuovo record post before buggering about with the whole two bolt system..
If any one has a set of ( or wants to split ) some campag braze on down tube friction shifters I'm after a pair ( or just the right hand side one ) Thanks!

Next up, the wheels.
I have some Mallard hubs that I think came from a Peugeot PX10 these have been laced onto H+Son rims by the good folk down at LMNHs.
When it has come to wheels ( and not yet aquire brakes ) I have thought about period correctness / modern and practical options. I am happy these wheels meet these requirements.
Finally a few pics of the clearance and the build so far..

Ha Colin! Yes I have some wheels that have only the smallest of clearances, chain ring wise it will be interesting to get your views as I have a chain set lined up but it's only 48 or 49 at the moment, I am counteracting this with a one step five speed free wheel at the back, off the top of my head I think it's a 14 to 18 but I will have to double check..
^^ jangle I would love to see a pic of your stan pike,

^^ yeah it was, I took it up there to graham to have a talk about possible parts but I had no money at the time so it just hung around for ages, total gent though, never complained about me taking up space and space surely is at some what of a premium up there..
Scilly, after much thought ( two years of thinking means there's probabably been a bit too much thinking.. ) I have decided to turn it into a bike for weekend rides.
Suitible for leaving outside country pubs, and attention grabbing to the beardy blokes you meet with carradice bags and OS maps.WIth only one braze one I don't think it would make sense to try and kit it out all modern and the vertical drop outs mean SS or fixed is out the window but actually that means I'm going to build it closer to it's original style without getting too obsessed with the TT elements but I will preseve a few.
I already have a few parts that I have collected over the past two years so as I add them I will reveal all..

So i have finally got round to building this frame up.
It means quite alot to me as I bought it after i'd had a pretty bad crash and was out of work for a few weeks. At the time my job was pretty physical and with a broken shoulder I wasn't going back any time soon.
It got me thinking about changing careers which A) meant being poor for a while but B) would mean being generally a lot happier if everything paid off.
Two years later, ( nothing worth doing is easy) I can finally build this bad boy up know that the changes I decided to take at the time of hunting this little beauty down were worth while.
It you are not familar with Stan Pike then a brief history is that he is a highly regarded frame builder in the 70's and early 80's.
After building bikes for Don Farrel and many other London shops he built helicopters before starting to build bikes under his own name.
Sadly he died very young and was only building under his own name for a few years.
This frame came from a tester in yeovil, and arrived from the west country in great condition for a 35 year old frame. -

Hey Westie, and jnbloom, sorry for not getting back to you sooner..
As mentioned above the frame is on hold while I finalise postage costs, but it looks like its going up north and the split is going ahead.
Sorry for not gettig back about the wheel, in the mean time my girlfriend has taken a liking to it and pintched it for her bike..
