Must admit of all the stuff I've got for it, the Brooks is still main question mark for me. It does look a bit clumsy, but I'm going to wait to see how it all looks once finished.
I'd have to agree with you, I'm not liking the Brooks idea. It just seems too far out of context with the elegance of the rest, to me anyway. But it is a damned fine corker there dear Sir.

Some may remember i asked about SPD pedals a few pages back
since that i have been told that mtb shoe's on a road bike are shit compared to road shoe's, which puts me in a spot of bother, basically, i will need to walk around a bit when i ride around on my road bike
some opinions or advice on either would be great, thanks :)
I'm currently running a pair of Shimano MTB M087 shoes (proper XC SPD shoes, but not race stiff) and M540 SPD pedals.
Have run the same pedals in the past with a much stiffer soled set of Specialized shoes (long time ago, can't remember which ones) which I found too stiff to be comfortable if you had much more walking to do than from locking the bike up and changing into work shoes.
But the slightly more flexible and lighter shoes I'm using now are sweet, even some walking is ok, but I still wouldn't take the girlfriend shopping in them though!
Now, I've only ever used MTB SPDs, but I would imagine road shoes on the whole to be less flexible.
Shimano do proper XC super stiff shoes and more recreational usage in their MTB range (including SPD hiking boots and sandles!), so I would also suggest trying them on before buying and think carefully about what use they're gonna realistically get. -

Now rolling on Hope SP-XC6's laced to DT4.2 and the bike is 500g lighter for it, thinking of going tubeless and swaping my lardy F100 RLT's for carbon rigids in a bid to save more weight, thoughts?

I'm riding an Inbred too, wish it was a 853 version though!
I'm just waiting for a pair of these to turn up -

Trigon MC01A - Claimed under 500g, axle to crown of 415mm, rake 45mm, £125 on eBay.
They're from the same company that make the Ritchey WCS 3K forks (around £400) and are pretty much identical as far as I could find out.
I'm currently running tubeless and it does save a lot of weight and improves the handling, so I'd say go for it.
One word of advice though, unless you're running tubeless specific tyres, make sure you give them a good scrubbing with soapy water as they'll probably have an anti bonding agent to stop the latex sticking to the tyre molds which you'll want to get off so that the latex sealant can work. How are you finding the Hope Pro 3s? I've been thinking of getting a set with the crest rims but worried they won't be strong enough (bit of a clydesdale).

Malaysian, did you ever find out what the angle is for your current stem?
Also, dunno if this helps at all, but you could get a 25.4mm to 31.8mm bar shim and get a more available, lighter and stiffer Thomson X2/X4?

Especially if your fork has a carbon steerer, as the wedge clamp of the original Thomson 25.4mm stem can pinch and partially crush a carbon steerer potentially causing catastrophic failure (and big ouchies!), while the newer stem with a normal clamp won't.
