A 79 year old cyclist died after being hit by a skip lorry on Rydens Road in Walton on 5 September, 7.30 pm. (source: Your Local Guardian)
That seems to be the 11th fatality in London in 2012. ** Edit: I just learned that the accident happend in Surrey and won't be offically added to the London statistics)

Here are my thoughts on the fatality: http://cycling-intelligence.com/2012/08/02/a-black-day-for-the-olympics-and-cycling-in-london/
Take care

Oh no, R.I.P.
I happend to cycle pass the Olympic Media center at Russels Square today for the first time. I also had the impression that the drivers of the "olympic busses" weren't - lets put it mildy y - too confident. I had one bus in front of me which drove overly slowly and was not indicating at all. Might be a concidence, but the driver was nothing compared to the TfL-pros.
Take care out there

Just saw this in the Evening Standard.
Blimey! Somebody was very lucky yesterday on Blackfriars Bridge / Victoria Embankment. The bike is just a pile of rubbish, but amazingly the rider seems to be alright.
Does anybody now more?
Safe journeys
Olaf*originally, this incident was dated on the 25th, but apparently it happend on the 24th

I had a nasty experience on the southern strip of the Outer Circle two weeks ago in the evening. Two oncoming drivers were doing some kind of a race recklessly passed slower going cars.
If I had not got out of the way - fortunately, there were a number of free parking spots on my left - this could have ended really badly...

Last week, there was another severe crash involving a 10 year old cyclist. He was hit by a car and airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, he seems to be in stable conditions.

Hi there,
I'm running the blog "Cycling Intelligence" (http://cycling-intelligence.com/) and do wonder if we should organise some kind of commemorative event for the poor girl. LCC's Islington Cyclists did something similar after a recent fatality on Holloway road.
It might be an idea to do this next Wednesday (12 October) prior to the Blackfriars flashride (http://lcc.org.uk/pages/blackfriars) is is supposed to start at 6pm. We could gather around 5pm, drop some flowers and then cycle to Blackfriars.
Does anyone know if her parents will be still in town next Wednesday? They should be invited, as well as all students at St. Martins...
What's your opinion ? Any further ideas?
Best regards
Olaf
