Our hire bikes are PreCursas and they have got short stems on them but we'd be putting you on a 60cm. Anything smaller will have you way over the front wheel.

I'd be surprised if you'll be able to turn the pedals without your knees smacking your elbows on a 54.

The ^blue one is Zdrenkas - he is on the top of the podium quite a lot in CXraces on that one.

Dglshrn - the seat tube doesn't vary in angle 54 through 58, so your seatpost might be too small, but not the seat tube. I am 6ft (184cm) an just ordered the 54 for an aggressive Hesjedal setup.

The new geometry chart makes the 58 smaller than the 56 if same cockpit is applied.

According to the bike fit rule that 1cm shorter headtube equals 3mm longer toptube.

Do you know what kind of weight your mate's frame is?

Size 52ish 1700 grams with thicker down- and headtube.

If you want a budget solution why not just get the Veloce in 111mm that plenty of people are running as per the table above? I used one with my SG75s and it was fine, and can be had for £20.

Thanks - but the Veloce is discontinued in all webshops, so seeking alternatives in the same price range.

^ Sugino 75s IIRC take an ISO taper, so the JIS spindle won't work. Why get such a cheap BB on an NJS cranks?

Between 03AM-07AM last night I kicked in 110km non-stop, without drinking or eating and keeping a very moderate pace enjoying the sleeping suburbs of Copenhagen, listening to P2 radio (Classical station). Zenbaby

Ordered a FXE today in 54 and in the comment field I wrote that I hope the new geometry is true and that I've noticed the change a few days ago (I was going to order a 56, but the new geometry for 56 is dead boring compared to the old one, so I am doing a Hesjedal on the 54).

The 'Old' Pre cursa 56 april edition did have a 14cm headtube as the original chart showed.

It said matt black on the website, but does it matter? it'll get chipped either way.

Yeah colour matters, even chipped :-D
