Another warning, there aren't any direct trains between London and Liverpool this Sunday as far as I could see. I have to change via Stockport and it's going to take me 4 hours to get there.
going to go up on the manchester train so that I get there on time and then potter my way back later on the cheap trains, they seem to be more regular in the evenings. Not ideal but a bit of a savings and definitely won't miss anything.
It turns out the competition tickets we got include food and booze so not as bad as I thought money wise.

I'm going on Sunday. Found London Midland trains have got a deal at the moment where you can travel anywhere on their trains for £15 a day.
It'll get you London to Liverpool return (on any train London Midland) for £15 return :) Then you can get a train from Liverpool to Mancs for a few quid.
Zeez you are a fucking genius, thanks for the heads up! Almost couldn't go as I don't have the money for the full price.....

exposure lights flare or blaze
Got a pair of Exposure Flare lights as some of the autumnal driving was beginning to scare the shit out of me and I didn't think my old lights were up to scratch. They are really bright and confidence inspiring. Bit on the expensive side at £80 and the fact that they are really only good for being seen rather than helping you see is a minor annoyance. Worth the money I think.

Bloody hell you lot, the blokes offering a sit in a lorry if you want it, there's no need to spend all evening bickering.
^this. It's not a requirement to pop down lads, merely a free service someone is trying to provide to help others gain more knowledge about where they stand/sit on the road. May well whip across at lunch, if nothing more than to honk the horn and see what some cement eejit is seeing when he swings across the front of me.

Lots of people were getting Bees in their bonnets over the whole relocation thing so there was a response posted on Road.cc - the guy organising it makes some good points and it seems as if they gotn squeezed out of their already small space by the council.
Here is the full response -
"I organise Bespoked and would like to make a few comments in response.
Bespoked is only 2 people my wife an artist and graphic designer and myself a frame builder. Our sole intention is to promote framebuilding to a wider audience.
Firstly the velodrome has got to be one of the most amazing cycling buildings in the world. The show will take place in the centre of the track (also outside), the space where normally only the riders are allowed and the medals awarded. So an amazing building filled with the finest bicycles in the world and a chance to talk with the people that made them.
The reason we even started looking of a new venue was due to the fact that since the venue has been taken over by the council they have rented out much of the building for office space that we have previously used. The entrance has now moved to the back door to make way for these offices. We have been begging to use the space where the Imperial museum ever since it closed, this is now office space. I would like to comment that the staff that actually work at the Passenger Shed are excellent lovely people. Bristol needs an event space rather offices in my opinion.
In response to comments about it being all about the money, it's not! Stand prices have gone up £25 since 2012 and the ticket price in London will be the same as this years show at £10. We have always had new builders spaces at a discounted price, offer free studio photography for all exhibitors to help them promote themselves.
I have been responsible for initiating the UK Framebuilders Guild, although still in it's infancy, but brings UK framebuilders together to further progress the profession.
Bespoked will never be in an exhibition centre like the NEC as i don't think it suits the bikes or the makers.
People visit Bespoked from all over the world, London is not really that far from anywhere in the UK.
I'm very excited about the show being in the velodrome in what will be one of the first times the public will be allowed in since the Olympics. Within a couple of hours of applications being opened some we have received applications from some of the best builders from all over the world. So I hope that people are still able to come even if (for some) it might take a bit longer to get to. it will be well worth it.
Phil" -
From Dave Atkinson who organises it - "Firstly the velodrome has got to be one of the most amazing cycling buildings in the world. The show will take place in the centre of the track (also outside), the space where normally only the riders are allowed and the medals awarded. So an amazing building filled with the finest bicycles in the world and a chance to talk with the people that made them."
Going to be awesome

Yeah, I ticked the box in the sign up process to say I'd ride for GOSH; I think the form then said someone would be in touch in due course, but I'm not 100% that that definitely means I'm in. Upthread I notice hms mentioning a minimum pledge of £750/£1,500, so I don't know what happens if you can't raise that much (I'm confident I can get £750, but £1,500 might be tough).
Riding for Parkinsons sounds like a good tribute: good luck with the fundraising.
If you get in touch with the charity directly they will already have allotted places they will be filling. -http://www.gosh.org/gen/events-and-appeals/challenge-events/bike/ridelondon-100/
You can register with them and the ballot and if you get the ballot they will give your GOSH place away, if not you keep the charity space and you have to raise £750.

I finished in 5hrs 15mins - pretty happy considering the lack of training and the excess of beer recently, thought it was going to take me 7hrs+. Best part was getting in a fast group for about 10 miles which was an amazing experience as I usually ride by myself, sadly it also meant that when I got dropped the last 6 or 7 miles were agony, thought about quitting a couple of times on the lead up to Westminster but ate about 4 gels instead and pushed through.
Great day out though, raised a grand for charity and looking forward to next time.
Thanks for the links to the photos and times....not sure I'm very photogenic on a bike

^yeah, who's that?
