You must be badass bringing jeans on tour. I shed a tear when I admitted to myself that my gorgeous jeans are way too heavy and space consuming to bring. I'm thinking of buying a pair of linnen trousers to bring since they are ultalight and pack very small. Jeans would probably also be way too hot in the summer in France and Spain. I haven't yet decided about shoes though, as they are also bulky and might be heavy. I could bring some light running shoes but they look like shit, especially when I wear them on my huge feet under my skinny brown legs in shorts.. I doubt that flip-flops will be enough for a longer tour so I have to back both the flip-flops (which come very light and thin) and a pair of comfortable lightweight shoes to wander around in.

Sadly the TN Laser Comp 1, which I just happened to have found on a Dutch second hand site for €175 (148GBP), only uses a single pole. I'll figure something out though since flexibility and magnetism of the Gorilla Pod Magnetic is simply amazing and offers an infinite amount of ways to get a camera in the right position.
On another topic, which doesnt have anything to do with containers but this seems the right thread to discuss anything concerning touring, I'm running a triple with 11-25 in the back. I've climbed some mountains with it before but never with more luggage than two full water bottles. Should I consider fitting a casette with let say a 28 cog back there? My lack of experience at climbing with added weight leaves me in the dark here...

I'll definitely be traveling light. Maximum 12kg behind me and about half that on the frame and bars, using an Ortlieb Ultimate 5 Compact handlebar bag

Havent heard anyone about anything similar here. They seem nice to put stuff like wallet/passport etc. in because they come off so easy and have a clip-on shoulder strap.
Mike Hall also rode a carbon Planet X frame on his tour around the world. My geometry is a bit more racy but it'll do fine for a 40 day journey.
PS: You cant see it on the pic but the Orlieb bag has got this carbon white look which suits my bike like porn!

Thanks for the help guys. I decided to go for the TN Laser Comp and stuff it in a Revelated Design frame bag. (stolen idea from the bikepacking thread) damn that frame bag leaves me with so many options! Now I almost regret having spent €81 on my rucksack. It seems slightly too big (and not a great fit either with the plastic, but removable, frame) to strap to my seatpost like in this pic:

But I only had a quick look at it so it might still be possible if I get the fit right. I dont think I would want to go without this rucksack (Osprey Talon 22) because I just like the idea of having one with me for walks, grocery shoppings, rest days etc.
The thing is that I dont want to ride with panniers and with my Planet X SL Pro Carbon frame it is hard to find a suitble rack. I sent an email to OMM to ask if it one of their racks would be to be fitted securely on the frame but I have my doubts. And after seeing that pic of the rucksack under the saddle I kinda dont want racks anymore because I despise the looks.

I'm serious, the motorcycles one would be better thought, 110dB enough to wake up everyone;
That in combination with a cable like this? If they'd cut the cable the whole alarm lock concept would be useless...
Kryptonite Kryptoflex 7 ft Cable Lock (10 mm x 213 cm): Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors -
Lockwise, a cable alarm lock that'll be useful if someone touched the bike
Not sure if this is to be taken seriously. I googled for them and found some but they all seem quite fishy... On the other hand a long cable like that would make me sleep better if I were to lock the bike to myself. Thanks though for the hint on packing the tent!
I am still eager to know how much actual space these tents provide. Is it enough to store a person, backpack, handlebar bag and a 75'' TV?

First post in this thread. Also a long time since I posted in these forums. First of al thanks to everyone who contributed to the great walls of info and laughs in here.
I'm planning a trip from Eindhoven, The Netherlands to Málaga, Spain in July and August. Covering +3000km and many mountains in the Alpes, Pyrenees, Sierra Nevada and other places I want to travel light. After reading through this thread, the TN Laser Comp seems like a good option though the Gogo Elite Tent is also very attractive.
The thing is that I'm turbo afraid to leave my bike outside. How do you guys do that? I'll be camping on campings and in the wild. Should I just find a big but light lock?
Assuming the bike werent an issue, it only leaves the tent. I cant seem to find the Gogo Elite Tent anywhere (note that I live in Holland but have been looking abroad) Then there is the issue of space, as it looks quite small from the inside, and I wish to be able to take my stuff in. Anyone here with experience with that particular tent?
For the TN Laser Comp I have the same question, as well as the question if this tent could be attached to my top tube, or stuffed in a frame bag as I havent yet decided on getting one. Thanks in advance.
Here a link to a Dutch touring forums. The topic name translates to ''Post a picture of your tent.'' Theres some neat pics in there.

Don't put it down, it's a half decent bike. It'd be foolish to spend mega bucks on something which you'll never benefit from.
Excited to see how it finishes up, your simple white/black colour scheme sounds tastefull too. Is it just a sunny Sunday rig or for any kind of training?Meh Ultegra would be nice on this one...
Well no spectacular training but I plan to ride at least 200km (120mile) a week and do some hills on Mallorca in the summer :)

Building a bike myself for the first time and its taking longer than expected. Now I'm standing still cause I have to wait on some parts I ordered...
Anyway I think I'm doing a good job for an amateur.
Its a Planet X SL Pro Carbon frameset with Shimano 105 5600 group. Sadly enough I'm not in the financial state to get anything better but I'll be saving to upgrade to a late Ultegra or maybe even Dura-Ace some day.
White s/post and glossy black carbon bottlecages are on its way. White tape on the bars and black Prologo saddle with white details are waiting to be installed :)Heres some in progress pics.

Hey there,
I've got a little question about the rules in the classifieds forums.
As I read in the rules it is not allowed to bump offer threads:
No bumping on anything you're offering (for sale or trade)! Exceptions: 1) If you included a price as per the advisory, you can bump the thread to drop the price. 2) If you hadn't added enough information (such as photos) and now want to.
This doesnt say anything about bumping ''wanted threads''. I was wondering if I am allowed to bump my thread and if there is something like a minimum time before next bump. And if there is no such rule, since I am quite new to these forums, what would be an appropriate/polite time to wait untill I bump sumething?
I'm still not fully convinced. One could just pick up the bike and carry it away...
