Got a Garmin 800 but the free downloaded map I have isn't perfect, and the slow map exploring is quite annoying. Therefore, where needed, I take regional maps from tourist offices or camping receptions, and a very undetailed map of the whole country for easy reference of cities and larger villages. These maps I keep in my bar bag and I ditch the regional maps when I get out of the region.

So much totally not.

I get distracted by it. It's a personal thing really. Can imagine that others prefer their map visible at all times.

^^ Could definitely lose some serious µgrams by trimming the thick parts on both ends as well. Mind that I tour in mountainous regions. How am I gonna climb mountains with all that weight?

Wonderful device and I definitely need and want one. Shame I can't spare the money atm. The 3G isn't worth the extra money for me though.

About a month of battery usage, go for the 3G model as it's nice to buy and download more books at 9pm in the middle of nowhere (if there's signal).

If, hypothetically, a friend had one of these and this friend would, hypothetically, download books from an unvalid source, would this friend in this hypothetical situation be able to read them on his Kindle Paperwhite?
