Ha yeah i thought it vintage parts probably had something to do with it!I never really got round to taking any photos, I just have one really my friend took and put on instagram...! sorry about the crappy resolution!
I didn't really ride it too often, never in the rain, which we've had quite a lot of recently! I've been lucky with all my breaks, none have resulted in falls etc.
I'm staying philosophical about it, and managed to get insurance payout on it so I'll be looking for a new frame. (again!) which has softened the blow!

I just completed 3rd build, a chesini gran premio, which was an absolute joy to ride, however i was on the way to work and the the seat tube snapped at the BB shell.
In the time that i've been riding, about 3 yrs, I've had 1 snapped crank, sheared and axle and now had a frame snap. All incidents are at around the BB area so was wondering whether I'm pretty unlucky, or if there's something I'm doing that could be changed to prevent things like this happening again?
I realise this question may be difficult to answer as I'm pretty certain there's a number of things at play, I just wondered if anyone had had any similar problems...
thanks

Thanks again Scilly, Apologies if this is a stupid question, how would i go about finding this info out? I contacted shauff to find out the original spec, but there does appear to have any frame numbers on it.
It does however have a MAIRAG swiss handmade sticker on it...
http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Switzerland/Mairag.htm i just found this... -
This Large 60's Geoffrey Butler frame is a real beauty! I bought from the forum a year or so ago but since then have got a complete bike and have decided clear some space!
ST 62cm C-C
TT 59cm C-C
Reynolds 531 tubingreally nice cable guide details, seat stay lug and braze on hanger at rear for centre rear pulls. Previous owner resprayed, so paintwork in good nick but a few faint scratches.
£150 ono
Collection london fields or Peckham during week -
I've got this Shauff Rudi Altig frame, could any of you give me an idea of its value?
Reynolds 531
ST 60 c-c
TT 59 c-c
Italian BBIts has scratches and signs of wear and tear but the paint is a lovely metallic golden orange, it has long campag horizontal dropouts, great 'S' cutout on the bottom bracket shell.
I've not really seen many about so am assuming its reasonably rare? -

Hi forum,
I'm looking to sell my Shauff Rudi Altig frame, but am not too sure how much to put it on for, could any of you give me an idea of its value? I'm new to selling parts so would value any input.

I acquired this bike a couple years back and its been taking up space. I got it originally to restore, but haven't found the time. I'd really like to get it out my hair as it's not likely something i'm going to round to and I'm pretty sure there's someone who might.
I don't know too much about it other than, its a BSA Deluxe (i think its a roadster but not too sure)
ST 54
TT 60Map holder and all chrome rusty as hell
Kick stand still working!
Dynamos (although the lights smashed)
Did have a lovely brooks saddle but mother nature had the leather away!As I've presented an incredible sales pitch, I'm not really expecting anything for it, I'd happily pass it over for a few beers...

Hi,
I bought his frame a wee while ago, and haven't got past much other than getting a campag headset fitted. It doesn't have recessed brake mount (infact it has lovely braze ons for centre pulls mafac racer or similar)
Here's a link to the original post, as I've not taken any photos: http://www.lfgss.com/thread102447.html
not sure if its quite what you're after but thought i'd let you know i had it anyway.Simon

I'm after a large frame and forks for single speed/fix build. I'm quite tall and as such found it difficult to find reasonably priced steel frame.
I'd like a 61, 62, 63 or possibly a 64cm if there's any around? It'd be great if I can be pointed in the right direction if anyone has any leads...thanks
hello nickvonf,
is that front mech still available?
