Well Lads, that's my beast there, only got her very recently. After realising the TT is too long :(
Just wondering would a smaller stem and compact bars be an acceptable option, stem is currently 110mm. I be needin around i'd say a 50-60mm taken from that.
and do compact bars and modern/short stem look daycent on old frames?
If you're riding on the hoods, you can shorten the reach a few cm's by using compacts, so maybe you could compromise by using a stem which is still a sensible size, e.g. 80/90?? And obviously I'm biased but compact bars can look perfectly OK on old frames. ;)

Brake calipers, Shimano
Rear mech and DT shifter, Shimano
Bars - looking at something like a shallow drop profile airwing or similar.
Wheels - maybe Mavic CXP33 or old cosmics?
I'm building this with a mindset of getting it functional and reasonably correct without being anal about it.I've got a 600 rear mech (early '90s??) in pretty good nick which I took off my Ron Cooper a couple of years ago when I modernised it. Also some RX100 shifters which you can have for peanuts. Can send pics if interested.
Will be interested to see how this turns out, anyway!

A minor saddle update. Got fed up trying to source a vintage white Flite in decent nick for not-silly money, and sourced a slightly beaten up one instead from here (thanks, pooolq!). Decided I preferred it to my Concor on aesthetic grounds, not least because it shows off more Dura-Ace AX seatpost, which is nice. And after a couple of test rides it seems to fit.
Just waiting for my mate to send me some bits in the post; white leather dye to see if that brings it back looking nice, and white leather if I decide to go mad and recover it myself.

The FSA Vero is a nice compact bar for about the same money. I really like the shape.
Possibly an even better shout, thanks. With the reach being 80mm would these be closer in shape to my Nitto M106 (78mm) than the PX compacts (70mm)? Having now tested them and being very happy, that's what I want to replicate.

For compacts I'd highly recommend Planet-X Strada (£19.99) or the even lighter Strada Compact Lite (£29.99). Really nice shape and very good prices too.
Ah good shout, cheers! Will be getting me a pair of the Compact Lite for the PX once the summer bike gets put away.

Since Selle Italia don't have any foreseeable plans to re-issue this saddle in WHITE I thought I'd turn my hand to a DIY job using some free leather my mate's sending me. (Will have a trial run on an old Rolls I've got lying around, but how hard can it be?)
So I just need a structurally sound Flite saddle of any colour, can be heavily scuffed or even torn in places, I'd just like to spend as little as possible, so make me an offer.
Thanks.

Bloody lovely! Being familiar with compacts + SRAM set-up, I can imagine how nice that rides as well.
