I don't see why people would suggets spend relatively lots on wheels for this machine. It's a beater frame at the end of the day. If it were me, I'd be looking at £50 tops for the wheels. You may decide to upgrade the frame later, but I don't think that's a strong argument for pricey wheels.
Keep the paint, it's one of the best things about it, in my opinion.
If you need a 24mm seatpost / saddle clamp, the clamp is included with the shitty saddle you can buy in Poundland.
That rear spacing is probably 120mm but will easily squeeze 126mm.
I am spending the bear min on this bike.

[QUOTE=pasipanopane;2289506]that ratio should be fine for general riding.
no, the crank goes straight on. buy some square taper cranks off here, and a BB that matches up with the type of bottom bracket shell you have, and preferably with a 42mm chainline depending on what rear hub you're planning to use.
wheels i was thinking of

Just bought this. Planning to make into fixed gear.
I want to get a flip flop hub wheel .Need advise. What size rear cog to get and what size crank to get? Thinking 48/18. I dont want to be peddling like mad but i dont want to struggle either.
For the crank when i buy it do i need a spacer? or just put the crank/arm straight on? Please send me info on the right one / size to buy.
Do i need chain tensioner? what size?
my first project should i re-spray the frame?

BMMF, it's probably been lost in all the bleating...
I apologize to your goodself if you have been calling out said bad cyclists. Though I believe you are the exception that proves that most in this thread are just here to blow their own trumpet by providing stories of how everyone else who rides a bicycle is incompetent...
I did fuck-up the otherday. Was going up a hill (locally) and struggling. (I HATE HILLS) And suddenly got a big bug in the face. Swerved into the road, luckily it was a country road, that was quiet. but still a car came right up my arse as i swerved and had to break. Like a oh shit moment i road to the kerb and fell off LOL I was wearing SPD's Which ive just started getting used to.

My mate matt. Been cycling for years, used to go on cycling holidays but he still hasn't been able to grasp how to signal when going to turn or stop. Also he hardly ever looks behind him (to pull out/turn/general times when you have to give a look behind). I do go on rides whith him but dammmm its nerve racking most of the time.

^^ Good speech.
Isn't it nice that more people have got into fixed gear bicycles because of the trend though? I had never heard of then before my super-duper hipster ex boyfriend and all his friends started riding them and going on about them.
...and the moral of this story is that I may be a hipster but I ride fixed because I like it, not because it's cool.
True but when they are grown up or just done with the whole hipster thing where do the bikes go?
I am pleased that you like them not because they are just cool.
Well i guess im just a pureist.

The thing that gets me is that hipsters as a rule i personally think only like fixed gear bikes because they are the "in thing" in hipster culture. Fixed gear bikes are awsome full stop. The bicycle is the most used form of transport across the globe. Alot of these are fixed gear.
Some people who i have spoken to who ride but not a great deal, are put off by fixed gear. when i have mentioned to them "fixed gear bike". What most have said to me "isnt that a hipster thing" to ride one. "NO" i say. the beauty of having a bike that will only do what you can do. No gears, mostly no breaks, no free wheel. pure! Dont get me wrong i have geared bikes but there is just something that stands out about a fixed bike.
So here's to you hipsters. You are giving a bad name to fixed bikes. So Bugger off.
