Thanks for all the replies! Really helpful to hear from real-word experiences. We're still open to locations and I guess still trying to work out the right balance of priorities and wether leasehold vs freehold is one, further out we can afford a house, but at the cost of having to commute by train most days etc.
Ideals:
Good location to live for cycling and getting outdoors, ideally within 10 miles of actual real fields
Good connections to central london, bonus if within cycling distance
Good connection to twickenham (1:30hr commute max, job may change in future)Less important:
My family is in north Essex so something on/near that greater anglia line
Partners family in SW area
Have mates in N LondonWe've basically been looking in the two opposite locations, SW/kingston, surbiton or further out and NE in walthamstow/ leyton.

Looking at buying a place, I would rather be outside of London and own a house but jobs dictates. So we're looking at flats.
I hate the idea of a leasehold as well as the potential of there being big issues with the building that require fixing and having to pay up. Strangely if I needed to spend thousands in a new roof on a house (freehold) it would somehow irk me less as it's 'mine'.
Probably being naive as I don't know anything about leasehold but what are the general things to look out for? is a Victorian house converted into 2 flats an easier lease than a purpose built multistory?
Is a 100 year lease satisfactory?

Pretty sure the EU have just fucked up sadly or is just unfortunate on the current state of the vaccines they've ordered. E.g. they have ordered 170m doses of Moderna vs the UK's 7m. They've also bought 100's of millions of CureVac, Sanofi-gsk, J&J etc, perhaps they saw these as being ready sooner.
The EU prioritised negotiating a better cost per vaccine (a somewhat bizarre choice given how cheap it is and that its being sold at cost) , the UK just paid up
AstraZeneca’s chief executive Pascal Soriot said that glitches in EU
supply were the result of Brussels taking three months longer than
London to seal a deal.He told the Italian newspaper La Repubblica that problems in "scaling
up" vaccine production had hit two plants: one in the Netherlands and
one in Belgium."It's complicated, especially in the early phase where you have to
really sort out all sorts of issues," he said."We believe we've sorted out those issues, but we are basically two
months behind where we wanted to be."Mr Soriot added: "We've also had teething issues like this in the UK
supply chain. But the UK contract was signed three months before the
European vaccine deal. So with the UK, we have had an extra three
months to fix all the glitches we experienced. -
Great news, my 88 year old nan has hers on thursday, she cant wait (neither can we)

The results of the cocktail touted by Trump seem promising and it seems to provide 100% protection against symptomatic covid, 50% lower rates of infection and reduced viral loads.
Passive vaccination only tends to give protection for weeks, and thus is only suggested for people at high risk of being infected.
-
Data from israel seems to suggest between 33-60% less cases in vaccinated people. If you cant catch it you cant spread it.
To your point, I think the general assumption is that you will likely have a stronger and more immediate response and therefore not be asymptomatic for as long. Logically this makes sense to me, my sister had a fever for one night, 12hrs after receiving the second jab.
If you have had the jab and you are say 50% less likely to catch covid - when you do you catch it can still be contagious. When you have a cold you are contagious until symptoms are gone. The question is how much 'viral load' you're shedding, scientists assume it will be lower if vaccinated - but thats what theyre trying to find out. I don't know why its taking time to get the data but guess it is virtually impossible to say wether you caught covid from a vaccinated person or not.
Not an expert just my understanding from what I've read, happy to be corrected.

Thanks for whoever added me to the list, I actually only asked for a crotch down, but I do genuinely want a burner too so I've added my size/colour.

My Gran (88) hasnt been able to get hers locally yet, she can now drive to one of the mega-centres but it wont let her book in the second jab - she seemed to think some of the other centers she got a letter about would book both her jabs at once (was too far for her to drive tho). She is worried about booking one and then not knowing when the second is.
Can anyone give some insight on this, if she gets her first jab, presumably she will get her second one booked after she receives it, is that always the case? Would her second have to be at the same place or could it be local once her local GP / centre opens up?
Her travelling is not ideal so also not sure if she should just hold tight, some of her younger friends at different GP's have had theirs done locally already a week ago. Her GP has said 'sooner than later' as a timeline.
Thanks!
