@bobble it’s looking really good. Certainly over the worst of it by the looks of things.
Where does your washing machine go in your new kitchen? Is it same as previous? Just looks like a small space/aperture for a washing machine (might just be photos)
And, is there a gap between the worktop edging and the window? I ask this as that setup is quite common in Glasgow tenement flats (worktop higher than base of window) and you’d be surprised how much stuff you can lose in a small gap.

We had a Rat Catcher come today, much disappoint he didn't arrive with a terrier or a ferret but instead an ipad and shoes covers. But, luckily he couldn't find any evidence of dead or alive rats. However he did find a hole that connects our roof to our neighbours who are the local veterinary practice.
I need to get up into the small part of our loft and install some wire mesh. Absolute shit of a job.

@chrisbmx116 I need to order mine in the next 2-3 weeks. I might just go for them, I trust my builder and he says he fits them in all bathrooms he does. Good to hear they have the @Tenderloin “feel of approval” too.

Sat watching TV last night and heard the awfully distinct sound of scratching in the loft (which is also where our bedrooms are)…
Could here some noise in a wall at the back of the house too.
Took a look in the loft voids today and after much poking around I could see a bag of blue stuff (which I then remembered seeing unopened years ago when we moved in) had been open and mostly eaten.
I’m now massively regretting not moving the poison but at the time I didn’t think to do it.
So, potential dead rat on the horizon. How can I avoid the inevitable stink. Is it worth trying to catch it before it dies? And if so does anyone have a recommended trap.

Yes! They are available through a company called PJH in the UK who run a distro outfit at https://www.bathroomstolove.uk. Our builder has recommended them although I'm a little nervous (maybe unnecessarily so) about when shit goes wrong and you need spares/parts etc. Going with the likes or Grohe of whatever feels a little like getting spares would be easier.
The Tiber line looks really nice too.
-
@Tenderloin are they Verma or Vema?
I’m actually looking at Vema for our bathroom. They were in a catalogue our builder gave us.
-
@Marron I would just be honest and say I have someone else come and fix the issues. Suggest having the cost of the fixes reduced from the original fee for his work.
I've had to do the same when a builder I really didn't want back in my house turned up to fix a load of shitty work. He just shrugged and walked off (I still run into him in my Coop which makes for awkward shopping 🤣).
I was out of pocket as ended up paying for the work twice but in the grand scheme of things it wasn't loads and I was just happy to get it done.

@Tenderloin exciting times!

@olaf_von_pokemon no problems! They are here if they are any use.
My 4 year old has declared we’re having a yellow rubber floor after seeing the samples. Think I’m just going to go with it as at least someone in the house has made up their mind.
-
@terlg I'm about to embark on a similar project. I already attached some weather seals on the exterior and then put some of those foam seals agains the stop edges. I'm now trying to figure out about to replace the weather seal at the base and close the gaps there as I can actually put my hand under the door right now!
Was also thinking about adding some sort of thermal layer to the inside of the door but not sure if I fancy the effort involved.
Probably easier to brick the whole thing up for the winter...
-
@olaf_von_pokemon if you want some rubber flooring samples I can send the ones we’re about the receive. I will need for them about 5 mins and would prefer for them to be used elsewhere otherwise they are destined for the bin.
Can send to you on the weekend if you want them.

@bobble - less that ideal but a shallower dishwasher any use? You can get 55 or even 5o deep which might make this work.
I can quite tell but I assume the dishwasher can’t go any further back into that recess?

@andyfallsoff yeah I can imagine. If it wasn't a bathroom I would opt for the plaster to remain unpainted but I can imagine it will look a right mess after a few months of splashes.
-
Also coming in for bathroom chat and input from you lot. I'm a month away from the tinyloftbog™ work beginning so I need to make some decisions. We're very limited in what we can do due to the space and with input from our builder the layout is largely set in stone. It's more the details now. Specifically the floor (@chrisbmx116 I'm waiting on Rubber Flooring Co samples) and also lighting which I think will have to be spot lights due to the ceiling height.
On the flooring I really can't decide. I got some Amtico Terazzo samples and they are absolute shite. Got some cork samples but I cannot reconcile the potential water x cork (or even wood) issue.
The walls will be some sort of unpainted plaster imitation which I think Coat or Lick do, either way it will be a pinky vibe, white "kit-kat" tiles from Claybrook, white sink and bog, large-ish simple mirror and brushed steels fittings.
Thoughts on the below

Rubber floors for Bathrooms, talk to me. @chrisbmx116 did you install in your bathroom or has anyone else? I have seen tiles and sheets and not sure which is the best route.
I'd really like to see actual photos of rubber flooring in place if anyone has any! All the images I have seen are very grammy and polished. I want to get the real feels.

@Sheppz have a look at Russwood: https://www.russwood.co.uk/ - they are a great company. Based up in here in Scotland but they deliver all over. They do Thermapine and can/do paint to suit colour choice. Might end up spendy for a small area though...
