We had some cast iron gutters replaced as part of an insurance claim (A deliver drivers van caught the edge and he drove off with them) - the insurance company have been really good, sent folk round who deal with specific parts of the job (slates replaced, lime mortared redone and gutter). The final bit was for it to be painted, came back from a weekend away and it’s been done, looks good and he even left the tin on my request so I could do another gutter.
However, the paint is Dulux Trade Eggshell mixed to a RAL of our choice but the tin says internal metal paint.
Is that likely to last or will it come off and my house fall down?
As it’s an insurance job I feel I want it done to the best it can be. I have no idea about internal vs external metal paints… paging @Airhead

@bobble mate this sounds like a terrible experience for you. As mentioned above, make sure you document absolutely everything including any issues your neighbours have incurred. If you feel able to I would start to make it obvious that any additional costs are going to be paid by them (the builder) for their shitty work that you have paid to get resolved i.e plumber.
Are they any details such as FMB or whatever on their paperwork/quotes. Be useful to start to understand what kind of support you might have if chasing for compensation. Also any addresses so you can get a bag of frozen sausages...
How far off finished are you?

She has her duvet, plus a quilted blanket and then this fleece thing, much more and she might not be able to move/get out of bed (maybe that's what I should aim for 😊). I'm all for saying its a coincidence but it's going to cost ALOT of money to prove that as we'll need to trial with heating on for a few days to get to statistical significance.

The last week we've been putting it on about 7pm until about 9pm to warm the bedrooms (we're in Scotland). I left it on last night until 2am...#golfclub - result being the 4 year old slept for nearly 12 hours. Either a coincidence or actually she's been waking up as she's so cold and coming into our room to warm up in our bed.
My wife has now suggested we leave the heating on longer so...shit going to get expensive.

@konastab01 we had ours done by a guy whose now in the West End #golfclub (we’re just outside Glasgow) if your pal isn’t in a rush I can recommend him.

Pretty good value. @stevo_com are you going to take on for the "team"and order so we all know whether its worth it? K Thanks.

With a small child it's super useful to have so much. I wish I'd thought about the drawers a bit more though as they are like giant buckets that shit gets lost in.
Planning on exact same style upstairs but maybe different colour doors or something - just getting blanked by joiners who have shown interest so maybe it'll never happen 😅

@motman very similar to these below that we had built last year. The guy who did these has a backlog of about 8 months now and is mainly doing bigger house refurbs so he's ignoring me. We paid £3k ish for these. MDF, painted with quite a few drawers, there is also a cheeky slide out draw on the other side of the stairs for shoes.

-
@motman those are lovely. Have you got any pics of the inside? We're looking to get something very similar soon.

@chrisbmx116 is that “adding/borrowing” on your mortgage I.e taking equity out or an additional second mortgage?
I’ve never personally taken a home improvement loan but I feel like it would be weighing up the best deal and running with that.
I feel like it might seem simpler to borrow on your existing mortgage as it’s retained to a single lender but you might find a good rate for a loan.
Are credit cards not an option? I recall seeing that mentioned before.
I’m shit with money so don’t feel the need to pay any of the above any attention

User @konastab01 doesn’t know his audience. This isn’t a Morrisons, Tesco or Asda crowd. Waitrose (M&S Food Hall at a pinch) of GTFO

Ouch, we painted most of our internal walls white mostly because we live in an old house with lots of exposed wood/brick which can make things very dark. We also add lots of colour through pictures/paintings, rugs and furniture.
It was by far the easiest thing to decide on so maybe that's the cowardice in me.

@skinny that’s what I thought. It’s just on tin. The label just has the RAL and the name of the place that mixed it.
EDIT: it also says Eggshell and EXTRA DEEP on the label.
