What I find most disturbing is that many of those Royalty fans (borderline stalkers imho), camped outside for two weeks!! some of them pretty ancient and vulnerable, just to catch a glimpse of a baby. I mean, seriously? That is pretty weird isn't it?
If the vox pops I heard on the news are anything to go by, these are the very same obsessive pilgrims who mourned Diana as if they knew her, subscribe to Royalty Magazine, have rooms in their homes exclusively devoted to Royal memorabilia, and are too thick to realise that by looking at pap photos on sites including the Daily Fail's, they're effectively paying the wages of those they said hounded Diana to her grave.
Even the reporters and cringeworthy 'Royal commentators' waiting around for a bit of action to actually report on, acknowledged there were only so many ways to say the same thing, so instead padded with mind-numbing whimsies and speculation on everything else...
Bizarre.

Many thanks to Ted, Bruce, all the marshals and the many other vols and people who made today so enjoyable. We couldn't have had better weather either, which always helps :)
I always love seeing how much effort riders go to and the good cheer they bring to the day. Also brilliant to see so many top-notch forum faces there - @ⒷⓆ, @veLLo, @General_Lucifer & Lady Lucifer, @JAH_tim, @kat, @Zebra_Cyclist, @EEI, @Ian(Conker), @coppiThat (briefly!), etc etc...
It was strange for me to see the marshals waving the riders on, guiding clusters of us through junctions, but not actually plugging traffic, as in previous years when I've been involved. I can totally understand why this approach has been adopted.

Sorry @NurseHolliday - didn't see your question til now.
Hmm, doesn't sound as good as the last one. Maybe the Mancs got all the best stuff first.
Did you guys get yourselves anything?! :/

^trollllllllllololol ;)
Also need to send mahoosive love to @LongAndWinding and @Aroogah whose generous cat-sitting gift really helped me out. Finally got the opportunity to use it!
EDIT: So yeah, I'm sounding all giddy and mushy this week - no doubt the combination of longer sunnier days, being able to ride again, reconnecting with people, and other more daunting matters, has something to do with that.

This thread doesn't get much love...
So I'm going to sing the praises ('unconditional love' may raise eyebrows) of two forumengers who've really helped me out this week, in their respective bike shops.
@hillbilly thank you for sorting me out today, and reassuring me with your own hip break experiences - you're the best! Junior is a lovely guy too btw.
@edscoble - I went to see you in your new work place, left with an improved brake. Got to admit, the new cable is much better so thanks for switching it before I had a chance to disagree :)
Aside from the sheer, unbridled joy of cycling, the best thing about being back on my bike is the ability to go out without needing crutches, an Oyster Card, multiple buses, Journey Planner etc. (A couple of days a week anyway.)

Sample Sale in London - Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th April.
"There will be sample jackets, knitwear, jeans, trousers, bike kit, Merino, Ventile, Epic. As well as some rare bits, one-offs and stuff that never even got made. It will all be priced to sell too (if you know what we mean)."
I did extremely well last time: went home with some excellent thermal bottoms, jerseys, pullovers, a fleecy hoody, and a men's rain jacket, all at rock bottom prices. Well, it was (sort of) Christmas time ;)

Food for Thought in Covent Garden is to close after 40 years:
I can't say I was a regular but they've obviously been a key player on the veggie scene for longer than most independent restaurants, and will be missed by many.
Last day 21 June 2015. http://foodforthought-london.co.uk/news.html

Three months ago when I broke my hip, I assured my mother I wouldn't ride again until I put some weight on and my bones were less osteoporotic.
Neither has happened yet, but I've been given the 'all clear' from the ortho dept, so I did go for a teeny weeny spin today (<3 miles) to cheer myself up and stave off my mounting road fear (I now appreciate how terrifying and insane cycling must seem to non-cyclists who follow the news or hear about those creepy 'Die In' protests).
Oh boy, did it work.

@pdlouche - are you considering the mitts/gloves you're wearing too, both for cushioning and protection from wind and cold?

Am I the only person in the land who can't stand Wallace and Gromit films?
I must be, since they repeat them every bloody bank holiday!
