lovin the puns.
If I'm not very much mistaken, the current tag has revealed a slight error in the beloved map.
The gates of this graveyard were a tag a long long while back but for some reason never made it to the map. Thanks to whatok's very own referencing tool I could easily go back and find which tag it was! -
...someone would stand at the down-wind end of the pipe with a sack to catch the well-fed rats as they were blown out.
A fun way to start the day! Didn't know about the Surrey one or the Devon one. Lots here: [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atmospheric_railway"]wiki[/ame]
Good dropping by SE last night, sorry to have missed you Si!

last one for a while...
old: Cox Walk Footbridge, over a disused railway to Crystal Palace

made famous by Camille Pissarro who used it as a vantage point for 'Lordship Lane Station' (1871) that hangs in the Courtauld Gallery:

now, when you say the word Cox on a Tuesday night, where's the first place you think of!?

^ Ha! I couldn't see any bi-directional ones there though.
think I'll fahgettaboud including quite so much geeky info next time...(Map updated)

Well done Dimitry.
Bow Locks, apparently there's been a lock of sorts on the site from at least the reign of Edward 1 (1272 -1307)Geeky info:
As MoN said, these are clever 'bi-directional' locks since it's tidal on one side and sometimes the water level 'downstream' can in fact be higher than it is upstream. They need an additional set of gates pointing in the reverse direction for the locks to function properly. Better explanation here. -
Old: 'Gulliver' reclining in a former sandpit, by Trevor Tennant, (Dora St, near Limehouse) info here

Took me ages, thought it was a Henry Moore, bo*locks!
Speaking of which:

Christ, I haven't seen web safe colours mentioned for a long time.
yes, obviously no need for web colours to be 'safe' any more, it was just to narrow down the choice a bit from 16m to 216!
I have very un-democratically chosen FFCC33 otherwise known as 'yellow' for the tags since 200, but it's easy to change. I just thought it might get confusing if the black ones (1-100) get reused for 200-300 too.

been experimenting with BlueQuinn's suggestion...
quite easy to change the colour and number
code for the icon is:
http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?chst=d_map_spin&chld=0.75|-0|CC3333|12|_|221to change the number, just change the last three
to change the colour you change the CC3333 bit to one of the different colours hereany thoughts/preferences?

No need to trawl through 79 pages: http://www.lfgss.com/post2343369-3813.html
That tank tag was the first one I thought of doing till I noticed it had been done on that rather brilliant map that oat44 made
Ha! As 6pt said up there ^^^^^ I can't take the credit for the map - 6pt started it and various people have updated it on the way. I just updated it from 173 to 213.
It IS a brilliant map no question!
That tiny url in the tags below is a brain wave, never seen it until now -

Bing Maps 'bird's eye' better than google for this...
