I'm going to try raising my laptop as a first step. I think I'm quite hunched which is probably the biggest problem. My partner has a monitor that I'll try as well, see if that improves my position. I don't really like using one generally but beats knackering my back.
If that doesn't work, I'll spend the money on a decent chair.

A colleague of mine attended a walking and cycling conference last week. One of the speakers was the deputy mayor of Paris. An interesting statistic he brought back was that apparently only 4% of journeys made in Paris use cars. An article by the BBC in 2023 suggests that 38% of journeys in outer London and 19% in inner London are made by car.
I'm sure that there's more to dissect there, there seem to be a lot more mopeds/scooters etc in Paris than in London for example (the source for this being my anecdotal, personal experience) but it seems that they're doing something right over there. -

Yeah, definitely thinking a city break type thing! And definitely thinking abroad for this one. Barcelona is our top choice at the moment. Stockholm is a good shout (if we can stretch the budget). I spent a few years touring with bands for a living and have spent a lot of time in Berlin and Amsterdam and love them both but fancy something different and a bit less familiar. I would say most of Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium and France are in the same boat.

Thinking about places for a long weekend away in mid October. Went to Lisbon at the same time of year a couple of years ago and loved it.
Requirements are: easy to get to from London, relatively inexpensive, vegan friendly, stuff to do and see (we're not beach holiday people).
Any left field suggestions? -

I had no idea there was a film adaptation. The Master and Margarita is one of my favourite books, will definitely have to try and watch it!
