A mate of mine cooked his Roval carbon rim on the 5k descent of the Planche des Belles Filles on Wednesday. It's 2 years old. Is it worth asking about a free replacement? I think 5k isn't really alpine, so not something I'd expect to cook a rim from a big manufacturer on. He's not over the weight limit (109kg according to the Roval site).

Anyone used these pads on Zipps? Seem pretty good value for 2 pairs and score highly in the reviews

I have this rough route planned for July. If anyone knows parts of the route and can offer suggestions for alternatives/reasons to avoid parts/pub recommendations/there be dragons etc I would appreciate it. I'll be very lightly loaded and have gravel king knobblies on the bike so I'm not scared of a bit of gravel.

He was using the pads that came installed on the bike with the wheels, Swiss Stop ones I think.
@amey We were descending the hill and at the bottom he said to stop as the rear wheel was making a weird noise and on inspection the brake track had warped on a section about 8cm long. The front rim was fine.
