I end up in a mess when I get money up front, because I don't make much on the belts anyway, so by the time I've waited for the buckles to arrive all the money is gone but I still then have the stuff to make and end up in a mess again.
I'm trying to avoid getting money up front where possible in the future. On the bright side, I'm hoping to get a nice BRP branded accessory done in time for Christmas...should make a nice gift for people and definitely falls into the 'only using the best materials' company philosophy.

I agree that spinning is good, but also, road riding is very different to off road anyway, so comparing the two doesn't count for much.
I've always found that too low a gear off road can often make things harder. It can cause you to 'bounce' around a little more due to trying to keep up with an overly spinny gear, both on flats and on standing climbs.
Also where there is a sudden need for acceleration straight after a downhill section...If the gear is too spinny you have to first catch up with the gear before you get any real forward drive. But as has been said...it's all personal preference. Still, it's interesting to see just how low some people choose to go.
-
Personal preference surely, I used to ride 42 x 18 on the road and likewise 32 x 18 off road. I just don't understand how people choose to pull such large gears.
Obviously personal preference...but 32 x 18 with 26" wheels is VERY low...especially for an area like Epping forest.
Just my opinion though. -

the inbred is temporarily done, gonna get it running 9 speed next month, and going to change saddle, bars and stem as they are all just temps to get rolling. took it down to epping forest on saturday, just about manageable with 32 - 16 although i definitely would have preferred an 18t at the back32 x 18? In EPPING?
It's hardly the Rockies. :] -

As somebody who has barely watched any polo since the early days in the old Brick lane courts, I have to say I was amazed by how far things have come!
The quality of play, and the skills have progressed so much.
The slickness, the speed, the moves, and the aggressive play in some of the games was nuts.
Seeing players that I haven't seen for years, and seeing how good they are now was great.
Even down to seeing how specialist the bikes are now, and how well they work for the job in hand.
Todd was a perfect example of somebody riding their bike like it was part of them.
Tornadoes blew me away, if you'll excuse the pun...very fast, very slick, great teamwork. Also poloholica played some great games with great teamwork, as did Penis flytrap, and Fish and chippeys.I really enjoyed myself, and from where I was standing it looked like a very well organized, and very smoothly run tournament. It would be good to see more 'all girls' teams next year as there seemed to be enough great players out there.
Well done all involved! -

Hehe...Welcome to the BRP lucky dip!
I'm almost tempted now to find the shittest thing i can put my logo on! :]
