And the costs associated with running as an MP. Apparently the average mp has forked out almost £20k to get elected, that doesn't include essentially working for free for 2 - 3 years pre campaigning before the election officially starts.
Little wonder that there are so many entitled arseholes who end up doing the job.

Are they timber or MDF?
If it's the primed MDF stuff you could probably get away with using something like sticks like sh*t turbo.
If it's the good stuff (timber) then you really should use adhesive and screws as the timber will be prone to movement as it acclimates. In extreme circumstances it can detach from the wall if not properly fixed.

If I'm honest it's general frustration at the situation the guy has got himself into boiling over because he said he'd get something sorted and it ended up looking like that.
Also he is weirdly keen to have the wardrobes/cupboards I'm putting in featured in my portfolio but I can't do it if the inside looks like that.

So for my sins I'm back at the house that cowboys built today to install some bespoke valchromat eaves cupboards. When I was discussing the job with the client I pointed out that the walls would need painting where the cupboards were going as they're only front frame. Client assured me that he had a professional decorator doing it and that it would be done by the time i got there. I reminded him he had asked for a fixed price quote and that I would not be able to do any painting as part of the work without charging extra.
I got here today and while there is paint on the wall it is the worst job I've ever fucking seen. I phoned the client and asked him what had happened.
The decorator cancelled on me so I did it myself. I managed to get it done really quickly because I bought a fence sprayer and used that. Looks good doesn't it.

Every day's a school day. Thank you (well actually your wife) for updating my knowledge, can't imagine I'll get much past the summary though.
I still think that it's more likely Nadine Dorris is using dyslexia to try and iron over the fact she made a tit out of herself.
I employ a special version of Hanlon's Razor when looking at anything a member of the parliamentary conservative party does:
Never attribute to any other motive that which can be adequately explained by the fact they are a Tory and therefore a cunt.

I can't imagine they'd make too much money on it. The upper limit for that street would, I would imagine, be verging on a normal house price. Judging by the house you can see in the back of the first photo the back garden isn't massive. Yet they doubled the floor space and slapped a flat roof on it that WILL leak in 10 - 15 years.
Edit - oh you can even see in the lowish Res photo that a shit job was done on the black render for that bay window.

The wise old owls here will probably recommend doing it "properly"
Oh hai!
You could hold them in place with filler but you'll be playing a fun game of "when's the plaster going to fall off the wall?" Until it actually falls off the wall. When I said:
remove all the loose stuff
That's what I meant. Sorry.
-
Would always use screws in that situation. I can't tell exactly what you mean with regards to the wall especially
plaster mesh
Do you mean scrim tape? Is it laid over the top of the plasterboard at the joints? With plaster on top? Are there any studs behind the plasterboard?
The nail gun that you have linked to is a powder actuated one that is designed for fixing into steel and concrete it would most likely ruin any brick it fired into and not hold up what you intend it to.

Substituting and combining spoken words is definitely a thing.
It absolutely is and is something that almost everyone does but it has nothing to do with dyslexia.
Dyslexia effects someone's ability to read and write, not their ability to speak coherently or avoid combining words. It has been a long time since I was diagnosed, so the method of evaluation may have changed slightly. In essence a diagnosis comes after several sessions with an educational psychologist who evaluates your verbal and written IQ. Some discrepancy between between these two scores is normal but a significant difference forms the basis of the diagnosis and goes some way to quantifying the severity of the condition.
Most people who have dyslexia are acutely aware of how the condition presents in them. In my case, for example, the speed at which I read and write is very slow as I taught myself to triple check everything as I go, a product of my dyslexia not being diagnosed until I was well into my 20s and developing my own coping techniques.
It's possible that she misread an Autocue but I think this is unlikely, as a government minister she will have aides to brief her before making an appearance such as this. If she were dyslexic I would be astounded if these aides did not know exactly how her disability presented itself to avoid situations like this. Lastly she would be aware of such problems herself and would have strategies to cope with it.
Is it possible she's dyslexic? Yes but it far more likely the thick cunt made an arse out of herself and doubled down by thinking this would explain things away.

they know I dread going down the formal route!
They will too. Most domestic builders aren't big operations and time / effort that they spend dealing with such stuff can impact their bottom line.
But then I don't think they have dealt with this well.
Again you're likely dealing with a small company or sole trader so their capacity for customer service, outside of being nice when on site, is usually pretty limited.
-
It sounds like you're covered in terms of being able to get it sorted. There are other options too, for example the small claims court has its own track for disputes around building but is also protected and agonising.
Have you told the contractor that you would like to sort it informally but are willing to look at other options? It may sound a bit odd but customers deliberately finding fault to try and avoid paying or claw back money is a fairly common occurrence. I'm not implying that this is the case here but some contractors assume that this is what's happening every time they have to deal with a situation like yours.
-
Did you notify your insurance that you were having work done?
Did you check that the contractor has an insurance policy in place to cover accidental damage to your property?
It sounds like this is something that is best left to insurance companies and therefore your best course of action would be to speak to yours. However, some insurance companies are funny about handling claims regarding building work if they were not notified prior to work starting.
When I say funny I mean total cunts who will try to avoid dealing with it or paying out.

Remove the loose stuff, knock up a bunch of easyfill and trowel it in, you're better off with the 60 minute one if you're not confident as it has a longer pot life.
This is an ok explanation but I'd always aim to finish it with a plasterer's float .
With regards to the paint it doesn't have to be big at all. One of the larger chunks that you pull out should do the trick.

And @terlg
This is what I've used most in the past.
Basically what you want to look for is a product that offers UV protection.
Rubio offer a hybrid exterior protection product that I haven't used (all the cladding I've done since I've started using Rubio products has been fibre cement) but guys I know who have used it rave about it (go for natural or pure to keep the cedar colour). Like all Rubio products it's designed to be applied as a single coat (although they do offer a complimenting primer - I don't think it would be necessary in this instance).
As far as the decking goes I would look at finding something that will harden the surface - cedar is a fantastic wood but it will dent fairly easily. You can get some epoxy products that will sink into the top layer and harden it significantly but I'd don't know if these offer UV protection.

Just threw up in my mouth a little. Thanks for that.
