I'm reading Slaughterhouse 5 at the moment and really enjoying it. Recommendations for what to read next by Vonnegut? (It's the first of his books I've read)
Seriously though, at least Cat's Cradle and Breakfast of Champions.
Difficult to be objective with Vonnegut as there's that unique voice/varied output axis but the two books of his I've read and been most moved by are Breakfast of Champions and The Sirens of Titan. Honourable mention to less-respected later work goes to Timequake.

That video really is quite chilling. The lack of concern having knocked the guy clean off his bike is shocking enough, then to upload it to his cheeseball youtube channel thinking he's done nothing wrong? Jesus wept.
He really hit the cuntybollocks jackpot when he mentioned RLJing in his weaselly little speech after babylon turned up too.
Him and Emma Way should hook up.

Some films of note watched recently:
Frances Ha – Arty-farty, talky Noo Yorky. Thought this film might wind me up but I enjoyed it. Directed by Noah Baumbach and starring and co-written by Greta Gerwig (who I also enjoyed in Whit Stillman’s Damsels in Distress).
Fat City – EXCELLENT slice-of-lifer about a former amateur boxer/current professional drinker and the people he meets as he struggles through life. Directed by John Huston and starring Stacy Keach and a (very young) Jeff Bridges, with a show-stealing performance from Susan Tyrrell. Amazing downbeat 1970’s vibes.
Lake Mungo – Creepy Aussie fakeumentary about a family’s struggle in the wake of the death of a girl-with-secrets.
Cure – Japanese psychological thriller chronicling the hunt for a scary weirdo after people are killed in apparent copycat murders. Excellent stuff, however I was pretty steaming by the end so I think I missed some important points made in the closing scenes.
Nebraska – For some reason I was expecting this to be like the Straight Story but it wasn’t. I enjoyed it anyway! I really liked Sideways but was underwhelmed by the Descendants. Maybe I’ll re-watch that film.
Do documentaries count?
Pumping Iron II – Did you know there was a sequel? It’s about women and is a fascinating watch. Plus the soundtrack is brilliant 80’s in the same way the original was brilliant 70’s. Filmed around the time female bodybuilding contests were a strange mix of beauty contest, dancing and traditional posing. Not that I’d know whether they’re any different now.
Bukowski: Born Into This – As the titles suggests, a doc about the legendary piss-artist and excellent and compelling writer. Very interesting, apart from the bits where Bono and Sean Penn play pretentious, annoying versions of each other.

"Some of you are wondering why we have removed our article on cycling. It is no longer there because what began as a reasonable debate, with sensible arguments on both sides, had spiraled into a torrent of aggression and abuse which was no longer of any value. We apologise if it caused any offence; it is a subject we will be staying well clear of in the future."
What a load of bollocks.

Having some problem with cleat clearance on my Chrome Kursks. Chrome sent me a new pair and the SPD cleats poke out eeeeeever so slightly.
Possibly solution lower lying cleats? Anyone got a comparison of Time Atac cleats VS SPD?
There isn't a great deal of clearance on the Kursks in my experience. SPD cleats are a bit chunkier than Atacs plus they don't wear down as readily, so you will be tap dancing a bit. Eggbeater cleats have the lowest profile but they're pretty sketchy for fixed riding.

^^ Yes they are. Their 1986 live album Public Castration is a Good Idea is amazing when you're in the right mood.
Swans - Public Castration Is A Good Idea (1986, Full Album) - YouTube
Of their recent efforts I really like 'my father will guide me up a rope to the sky' from 2010.
I've heard two songs off their new album; one is good, one is not.

Street food.
