I’m trying to fit crud road racers to my road bike and the rear brake bridge clearance is really tight, even with 23mm. I’m a fan of the Conti GP4000s but they seem to come up quite large for the quoted sizes, any recommendations for a good winter training tyre that comes up quite small would be appreciated.

Opinions sought on 10 speed chains please.
I'm looking at swapping my Ultegra 6700 12-25 cassette for a 105 5700 12-27 and I'll be fitting a new chain with it. Is there any real benefit in pairing the new cassette with the directional 5701 chain or is any compatible 10 speed going to shift exactly the same?

I've been itching for a cycling GPS with navigation for ages now but (partly due to this thread) I can't bring myself to buy a Garmin. Have been considering a Mio Cyclo 315 but there isn't a whole lot of information about them online and I don't know anyone IRL who has one. They had a big 4.0 software update earlier in the year which I gather was pretty buggy (standard) but there's a 4.1 release which I think has ironed out a lot of the problems.

Advice sought on fitting, sorry for the n00b question…
I don’t normally wear a helmet but decided to buy one so I don’t have to use loaners for track sessions/be precluded from some club rides. I tried a few different brands and ended up buying a Giro (Savant, superfit large) as it was the most comfortable. I then read that when properly adjusted you shouldn’t be able to move the front up on the forehead more than an inch or so. However, in order to achieve this level of snugness it’s necessary to make the band and particularly the straps uncomfortably tight.
Is it likely that the helmet just isn’t the right fit, or does it take some extremely careful fettling of the fore/aft straps to achieve the correct level of snugness?
