I am using a company to do it - I don't have the skills required for a perfect finish.
Location New Cross SE14 - Surface to sand around 25sqm (it's closer to 30sqm but they can never be arsed to actually measure).
We had 2x quotes, one for £900, one for £750 (both incl. VAT) for sanding + 2 coats of lacquer or oil. That's £36/sqm and £30/spm. Both businesses had nice photos on their socials so went for the one that's 20% cheaper.
Also got a quote for the oak kitchen worktops - sanding + 2x coats of Osmos oil. £240 & £170 from the same companies.

Thanks for the love @jdmitch.
Happy to drop off somewhere in London if that facilitate a sale!

And I met @cake & his Omnium in real life today!
Hello internet friend -
Check Gumtree/eBay for used ones I'd say.
If you prefer new, the go-to company is AluLock:
https://www.alulock.com/en/products/aluminum-boxesPrices shown are public prices, trade is 60% off so I'd advise looking for a UK distributor.
Brexit has added import tax and somehow VAT (Only Boris only knows where the VAT was going before Brexit) so prices can get SPICY

Good to see that when I was on my LFGSS hiatus @PhilDAS has gained maturity!
It is a lovely frameset, definitely worth saving for someone with the time, skills, and most importantly the parts to build it back!
I had a look online and it looks like new parts have gone up 30-40% and used part about 50%!!!

Photos of seatpost cluster crack & dent.
All fixable for someone with access to framebuilding kit.The paint is scortched as I had to apply heat circa 2017 to remove a seatpost - which was successfully done. And to my surprise, there were remnants of another seatpost in there once I extracted it! #CSB & grease your seatposts

Hi all,
I have not spammed the classified for a while - but rest assured that I am still alive & in London!
CSB: Two reasons for my absence.
1) Brexit has prevented the free movement of goods so I still have 60+ bikes in France that aren't worth paying taxes on to bring over.
2) I have a baby!Anyway, I have this 1997 Gitane bike which has a dented top tube (happened in transit last year, not accident related) and a crack along the weld of the seat bolt cluster so I am selling the forks and giving away the frame.
Pretty nice in Columbus Genius. The bike will be stripped so no Shimano 600 TriColor 6400 parts are included.
£35, pick up from New Cross SE14 or I can also post the forks if you don't want the free frame.
SOLD AND PARTS TRANSFERRED THE GIANT CADEX
Cheers
Vince

Hi all,
The preliminary dates are in!
Most likely around Monday 5th September for 7 days worth of work.
For those mostly concerned about money, expected net salary should be around the 600€ mark (post tax since it is declared).
For those mostly concerned about the experience, expected net Champagne drunk is around a case per week per person.
Send me message if you are interested in joining us!

Update on the Schwalbe Pick-Up & Douze
The don't roll as well as Marathon Plus.
The front end is noticably heavier to manoeuvre, almost unpleasant.
The rear end feels like it's stealing 25W of power constantly.Since they're bigger, they also raise the bike a little, meaning the centre stand doesn't touch the ground in more occasions.
All in, would not recommend and I am contemplating getting a new normal size front tyre.
Could not find one myself bout would be glad to hear options!
You have to bear in mind that the garage door they protect is 2mm thick aluminium so you can litterally puncture it with a screwdriver & use a tin opener to get inside...
