So possibly for vfm: cycle/run/get yourself a balance board & use this whilst training with dumbbells - you'll be Laird Hamilton fit in no time
Local B&Q or other favoured DIY store, 4'x2' sheet of ply wood, cut into eggish shape, add thickest/shortest pvc pipe = balance board for about £7.50. Does legs (to begin with), core and improves balance. Have 2 at home, saves on indo boards. (Get really sick and you can kick flip it)

HoP 7/4/11
Spin CycleThursdays,1830hrs for 1845 departure at the Gloucester Gate traffic lights. Heading anti-clockwise.
20mph+ average, but if you can't hold on, worry not! Form your own little train for light relief. Lap times are between 7:00 and 8:00, with a possible slow lap/rolling rest after the first 4. Stop after 8 laps/22 miles. Or earlier, if you're a slacker (you know who you are). A little bit of a rest, then off to the Edinboro Castle for some refreshments (calorie recovery through chips and beer). Or the Flask, if you can face the hill. The chips are better and cheaper.- modest

Dont forget your diet, ChainBreaker mail orders spartan babys for breakfast, lunch and dinner and look at him. (his forearm is bigger than my biceps, or lack thereof)
I find you have to enjoy the feeling of getting fitter, not pay more to get more out. Try free weights and push/press/sit ups at home and get on more bike rides, if you want to put mass on don't forget you need something to turn into muscle.
I think the reason I'm so boringly scrawny is because I don't eat very well, very infrequent and alot of shite.
Get that sorted and you'll probably be more motivated and get more out of your current regime.
Or the baby thing?

Love you Ian, Xander you are spac, nothing we can do about it though so we love you too!
Massive thanks to skully and skive for this one, real fun ride, apologies to the guys who thought I'd fuck up the WHOLE day after bethnal green road incident (stack)
Sorry Rowan about the Argos, was such a beauty too! I'm sure some welding and gentle riding will get it back into shape! Fingers crossed anyway!
To all, thank you and goodnight!
EDIT: P.S. 63 miles is a long ass way to carry a cake....

Ha! This will only mean something to those in attendance last night but...
I just took my 48T chainring off and put a 42T on. Skidding is now a piece of piss and I seem better at my attempts to trackstand. I guess it makes sense. I'm doing a lot of miles at the moment and perhaps my legs are too tired midweek to push the ratio I had fixed.
I'm going to stick to 42x16 until I get the techniques nailed before moving back up.
I've gone from only being able to do pissy little hoppy skids to nice long steady ones tonight. Goodbye tyres! Now for trackstanding practice. My cat is not amused.
