Thanks for the help Oswald.
Update
Took the Lengster to my lbs to have the rear brake, hoods and star nut sorted. Will get pics when I get a chance.
Initial thoughts are - I'm a bit stretched on the bike now so may make use of a smaller stem I have laying around and see if that helps. Just need to sort out how I'm gonna carry my bag now.. Less than a month till the trip!
SmallBig problem though... I've developed a noisy crank over the last month or so. It's not the chainring bolts and the crank arms are on tight enough. No play in the bb either.Anyone know what it may be?
It's definitely in that area as I'm cycled with one leg putting pressure on both ways and no noise. As soon as I clip the other foot back in, the noise returns upon pressure of the opposite motion to the other foot. Hope that makes sense?! Not sure my budget can stretch to replacement cranks with timescales involved.
Pics soonh!

Ahh Dry, no idea mate.
I rode it today lol, didnt break my teeth. I think I'll just take it to my LBS on saturday and hopefully they'll be able to sort it. Not really removed forks to see what's going on on that side of things so not really comfortable nosing around there.
I was hoping it was an easy fix.

Hit a few minor issues this evening...
Missing one of these things to attach the road levers to the handlebar. Anyone know what it's called?
Also think I may have messed up my headset/fork thing. I used a shorter stem temporarily, however went to put the original back on with the compact bars as per below. Trouble is the headset clamp(?) wont tighten and instead keeps turning. When I unscrew it it doesnt come out either. Any idea? Will it be safe to use on the commute? Will have it looked at on Saturday but just want to know if it'll come off as I'm doing 80mph's (not really).

Bought more stuff and this is what I was doing on Christmas Eve...

Untitled by kaaaaaaandries, on FlickrAlso have some Tektro inverse/TT levers and cantilevers. Searching for period correct Canti's were proving hard.. Got them for cheaps in the Planet X sale not long ago.
Apologies for the feeble progress. I've got pretty much everything now apart from BB. I'll be taking it to my LBS to check which length spindle I need for decent chainline as I'm pretty much hopeless at that - Should then be ready in time for when it gets hotter.
Also well under £500 budget.

So I'm really shit at keeping this thread up to date, or even progressing with it... I blame the weather tbh.
But yeah I have these bits:

Untitled by kaaaaaaandries, on FlickrPicked up off ebay, cant remember what make or whatever but it's kind of what I was after. Dirt cheap so thought why not. If I dont get on with them I'll look for something like the Schwinn ones that sweep upwards.

Nice bike Kaaaaaaandries. Thinking of studying in B'mouth next year. Hows the fixed gear scene down there? Do you ever ride at the Velodrome?
Thanks mate.
'Scene' down here is ok. There's a few Facebook pages floating about but we do ride quite regularly. There's usually around 5+ on rides but we're looking to do these more often especially summer time and get more people involved. You will see quite a few fixie skidders about though.
As for Velodrome, been a few times. One of those times I fell on my face due to it being wet lol. But yeah it's good fun.
