No0b question. What's the deal with using samples on your tracks these days? When I was a lad you could sample what you wanted and release it with impunity cuz nobody gave a shit.
I've used the Billie Jean drums on a track (with other drums under/over it), could that be a problem down the road? I will chuck it up on SoundCloud and could possibly press a little 45 all going well. It's gonna definitely get played on the radio so that's my main concern.
Filter the fuck out of it? Drop it and recreate it? Credit it? What are my options?

Steely Dan were a weird bunch, eh? I've never been a fan, too clever for me. ๐ฅธ
Thought I'd mention I've accidentally become a bit of a Univibe fan. I've always loved the effect in the hands of Jimi, obvs, but never really considered it for myself.
A while back I was going through the presets on my Zoom MultiStomp and stopped to do a few late era Jimi impressions with The Vibe setting, lots of fun, etc. Messing around with the controls I set them so the effect was there but only just, and it sounded really great.
Reminded me of Chris Bell's guitar sound on I Am The Cosmos, adds a swelling richness to whatever you're doing. Who knew?? Great for poppy arpeggios and languid lead licks.
Anyway, as you were!

That's a shame, it doesn't look that thin in the photo @Nahguavkire posted. Thinner than a 70s Fender neck even?

An old friend has a '69 Thinline in factory black, it's one of my favourite guitars ever. He's had a tort guard on it in recent years which I hate, it originally had a white guard, it was so fucking beautiful. Black!!
Here's a super unflattering picture of guitar and owner. I've got one of his old guitars, if he ever asks for it back I'm gonna want that Tele as a swap.
-
It would solve some of @Nahguavkire's problems. Or how about red front and black back and sides?!? Personally, I'd go gold front and silver back and sides because it's a bit mental and I've never seen it anywhere before. But then again I'm completely OBSESSED with gold Fenders at the moment. Probably best to ignore me. ๐

AFAIK it's a polarity and grounding issue, so not as simple as just being a switch. Things done moved on from my day.
Those Ice Cubes work on any Fender reverb amp with RCA sockets at the back. My old band had red and blue ones, for Twins pre and post '78. I think they can be had for quite cheap, give it a go! Mine's still knocking about somewhere. I think we bought them out of the back of the Melody Maker!

These are supposed to be good, I've tried to pick one up on Gumtree/MarketPlace a couple of times but always been beaten to the punch. Has the polarity and ground lift to deal with all the stuff I don't quite understand but is supposed to be important in these situations.
You also just reminded me of the time I stopped using pedals and had just a JHD Ice Cube II and an AB box, I thought I was soooo cool. ๐ฅธ The music my band at the time was making was fucking garbage, we totally lost the plot. Total dogshit.
The Ice Cube was a fun little gadget tho', turns your reverb tube (12AX7, I think?) into an extra gain stage which then turns your Twin into a three channel amp! Ingenious but not amazing sounding. Bit flabby and 70s.

This guitar ROARS!! Super loud acoustically and the pickups sound great, really nice and twangy, lots of guts.
The bridge on my Nashville won't fit, just compared the old bridge and the holes don't line up. Annoying but not an insurmountable problem. It's much, much lighter than my boat anchor Tele Deluxe, happy with that, dings aren't too bad, just needs a good clean. Happy!
-
Still haven't heard from the guy selling that ^ thing, offered him $200 less than the asking price of A$1700 which was a bit cheeky. Oh well, too bad, too sad.
Anyhoo, this has popped up and I think it'll make the perfect donor guitar. 2013 MIM Tele Special Edition in blaze gold and only A$850. Needs a new bridge, I put a Kluson ashtray on my Nashville so hopefully that'll go straight on there, looks like the same modern Fender bridge. Maybe success!
Few nicks and bumps here and there but I don't mind that, think I prefer it to a relic paintjob.
-
Found this used example in Perth, WA for a pretty tempting price, I'll offer them a couple hundred bux less and see how we go. I think it's gonna be cheaper than I thought to send a body to Nashville so this might work out cheaper than buying everything separately from Stratosphere. I'll get my man maths calculator out tomorrow. ๐ค
It'll be a Kenny Vaughn clone guitar once Joe Glaser and I are both done with it. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ

This is pretty hard to beat for US$769.99, I'd move the guard on, obvs. And for US$699.98 I can get the fully loaded black sparkle body.
Official Fender Brad Paisley Road Worn Telecaster Loaded Body (Includes all hardware & electronics)- 4 lbs, 9 oz- Spruce/Paulownia/Spruce- Nitrocellulose Lacquer Finish- "Road Worn" Treatment- Brad Paisley Special '64 Bridge Pickup, Twisted Tele Neck Pickup, Vintage Style Hardware- Genuine Fender

That's a really good shout. Just went onto Stratosphere and they have LOADS of Fender Tele bodies for pretty good prices. The Brad Paisley silver and black sparkle are pretty cool, shame they're roadworn. There's bound to be something in there that'll do the job. Jimmy Page Yardbirds bender, anyone?

He said paulownia wouldn't be a problem, he was most worried about working with a non-Fender body which may turn out to be all over the shop dimensionally.
TBH I shouldn't be cheaping out on what will be a really amazing instrument. Who buys a hundred dollar body and then spends another six hundred getting it modded?? Back to MarketPlace!!
-
Very kind of you. ๐ Interesting that particular paulownia body has hardwood inserts around the bridge, recommended for high stress areas apparently. Hmm, maybe I should stick with alder/ash/basswood then? BTW That finished purple body is only US$109. Quite a difference in price.
I'm being cheap, I should stop being cheap.
-
Does anyone have any experience with Allen Eden guitar bodies? Obvs cheap and Chinese but what do you say?
Joe Glaser is onboard to make me a B-bender (shame about his branding, not the best), I am now researching bodies and necks frantically. I want paulownia (~1kg!), gold and a nitro finish, the closest I can get is Paulownia, purple sparkle and poly. ๐ซค I'm sure it'll be fine.
Thanks! ๐
