Loose pedal spindle / bearings, chainring bolts, crank bolts, BB cups, BB bearings? Non-concentric chainring / cog? Loose hub bearings, pitted races, cracked axle / BB spindle? Loose hub nuts / cracked spacers / cracked stays? Seat post tight / loose / cracked?
It could be quite a few things.
cheers man, all seems ok, but il double check.

oh fuck, I meant to put that its ir-regular, that it wouldn't be the same point each time...
I hand wound it to a place where it was making a slight pop, and looked at all the connecting links and they seemed fine... obviously cant really see/hear, cause the weightload of your arm is massively different to yer body/legs vs road.

I've got a worrying pop/clank sound coming from the drivetrain on my mercian track, using a 1/8 chain from an old hercules ladies bike on 1/8 villiers cog and 1/8 ta chainring, seems to be coming from the chain's connection with the cog over any bb problems, and is quiet when hand spinning but loud when riding. chainline is perfect, and its greased etc, not over tight either...
have searched google and on here, but can seem to get any ideas as to what the problem is... loathe to just buy a new chain as that might not be the issue.. sorry if Ive missed something super obvious.
anyone know if older 1/8 chains/cogs had different sizings or anything?

mystery machine sort of finished. not as ecstatic as I thought id be, the tt seems to slope upwards slightly which I hate, and Im worried having spent so much time matching yellows that it looks a bit flowery, but its lovely nonetheless. headset needs some attention as theres a bit of movement, and Im getting a different saddle, black brooks sprinter from the 40s/50s... this ones off my Hobbs build.

can do a proper thread if anyones interested, but didnt really do photos along the way, so would probably be a bit boring. still dont know what the frame is, anyone with any ideas do give me a shout, frame no. 244 under BB.

This is one of my favourite colour schemes for a period machine, and it matches your model... no brainer! you could do a metallic version of it.

going on a great deal of 'yes' from various forumengers, I got some imitation Benotto tape, and despite looking kind of right in the photo, its waay too orange in comparison to the other bits of yellow on the build

thus I've ordered so tressorex cotton tape (cheaper that the newbaums), scoble be praised.
also rather like doing the tape in the 'merckx' style, (backwards, no sticking tape on the tops) anyone had any experience with how long it stays neat for?
Spotter, I reckon this shiny orangey stuff would look great on the Alvarez if you built it up with chrome parts...

Its a normal (not great) mixer running through an old home hifi amp(not PA, got the terminology wrong), then through better, but still home-use speakers..
using vinyl, which I think may contribute...
I have the mixer on very low, and the amp very low, and while its not very load at all the rumbles are basically fluttering the speakers at a ridiculous rate... if I lower the mixer and push the amp then the air noise is ridiculous...
Im just gonna get a small PA and speakers I reckon.. did UTFS! but everything was quite pricey new, and with ebay stuff I just dont know if its going to be shockingly shit..
cheers fellerss.

Im currently ramming my decks through an ancient PA and some HI-FI style speakers, and they cant take the bass, even at low volumes.. the above sentence probably belies the fact that I know NOTHING about this stuff, so anyone got a tried and tested system that is good for bedrooms but can be cranked for a party?
I dont want to spend more than £50-100 though, so if you have any suggestions for cheap sites, or even stuff you dont need anymore then gimme a shout!
cheers.

My beautiful mystery frame just doesnt fit me.
I spent the last few months building this stunner up with lovely bits and it has repaid me with discomfort.
its NOT A MERCIAN before people think Im misleading them, however, it is cheaper than a mercian, likely rarer than a mercian, has nicer lugs than a mercian, but still looks like one from a distance... nice.
has been suggested by various self professed reliable sources that it could be a one off ephgrave, or a claud butler Bi-Lam, but nothing to prove it.
not sure if the forks are correct, however research tells me that there are no reasons for them not to be in terms of style.
56cm square, can supply old tange headset, but its not a great fit.
Drilled for both brakes. pretty certain its 531, though has a repaint style sticker.
i paid more, but clearly you lot deserve better, so £300
open to swaps, looking for something similarly as nice, but 60cm st + 56cm tt... dino arms no, awesome long stem, yes.
sorry for massive photos, have a few more if interested. the headset in the pic is NOT the one Id include
