I've recently wacked some gravel king tyres on the road bike and want to do a bit of off roading. Last weekend I went up to Epping forest which was brilliant but am now looking for other places to shred the gnarmac. Anyone know of any good places accessible by a short train ride from London?

Ok, so I've changed my mind and am now after a 29er mountain bike. Anyone have any ideas for rental one in and around London? I called swinley forest and they only rent out to use on the their forest trials so cannot be taken out of the forest. Anywhere else?

Yeah I've been thinking about that too. Thing is, I'll be riding from the train station to the beginning of the ride so would prefer a cross bike or similar if it's possible.

Also, if anyone's got recommendations for suitable tyres for The Welsh Ride Thing then I'd be interested in some advice. I know most people do it on mountain bikes and I'm sure the bigger the tyres the better. Any ideas?

A surly cross check would be ideal if anywhere rents them?

Gotta be a place to rent cx bikes?

Could also go for cross bike rental too.

I'm doing the Welsh Ride Thing at the end of April but as yet have no bike to do it on. I was wondering whether there's any bike shops in London that rent gravel/adventure bikes that I could rent for a weekend?

Thanks for the replies. They'll need to be 700c as I'll be doing road riding too and changing the tyres to 28mm. Just looked at the TK540 and they look good. Anything else?

I'm looking at H plus son Archetype or maybe some of the Mavic touring rims?

I'm going to be building a gravel/off road tourer and am after some advice about wheels. I'll probably be using a Brother Kepler frame with mini V brakes. I'd like to be able to run both 42mm and 28mm tyres on the wheelset. Are there any wheel sets that are good for this range of tyre?

Hi. I'm doing up a old 90's road bike that had white brake hoods with shimano BL-1055 levers. I'd like to do it up to its original condition so am looking for white hoods rather than black. I've had a little search and it's looking pretty difficult to find them. Does anyone know where I could source some from?

Hi. I'm looking for something like a surly cross check or Macho man. I have forks already so just the frame and looking for something around 60cm. Condition is not important cos it's gonna get trashed off road.

Bought this a little while ago with the intention of building a single speed but haven't got round to it so am now selling. It's a biggun at 63cm and has a couple of scrapes but nothing too major. It doesn't have a hanger for a rear dérailleur but was originally built up with a rear mech with hanger incorporated so you could go down this route if you want gears.

I live in Haggerston so feel free to come round to have a look.
