It's no big deal but when u remortgage (if you have a mortgage) then the lender might insist on an indemnity policy for the lack of building control consent.
If they applied to the council for consent and they have the building control sign off then that's fine, but if they don't you'll get lumbered with paying for it. So ask your solicitor to check.
I don't know what you are paying for the house but the market round cann hall is pretty strong with crap houses going under offer even if they are asking 485 or so for them..

No issue per se but they have been done with gallows brackets by the looks of things which the council normally doesn't like- its the cheap way of doing it (but it does work)
Make sure if the work hasn't been signed off by the council that you get an indemnity policy from the vendor
Or even better do as you suggest and get them taken out all the way to the loft and get the stack supported from there

Dunno if you are going to be refurbing yours but keep an eye on number 2 Chichester. The ladies there (who were on location x3 a while back in walthamstow) are completely renovating theirs back to bare brick, bespoke sash windows, the works. Could be quite something and they have used plenty of different trades so could recommend some if you need any.
Also I have a massive ladder if you ever need it.

I know that quite a few people here have purchased or are about to purchase a period property, and might therefore be thinking about getting some plantation shutterrs for their windows.
I have just had the misfortune of dealing with hillarys blinds in trying to order some for my house, and they have totally stuffed up the order, after having made us wait months for them, and they have been less than impressive in trying to sort it all out (after having had my money for several months)
i'm going to reoder them through california shutters who cannot be any worse than hillarys and would counsel everyone to stay away from hillarys - as they are a total joke.

this should probably go in the classifieds but im not sure if it can, anyway ive got quite a few house door numbers, some made out of slate with deep etching, some brass, some glass, some aluminium. if anyone wants one for 4 quid (they are normally 15 quid a pop) then drop me a PM with what door number you want and i'll tell you if I can help.
I;ve only got a selection of numbers so wont be able to provide all door numbers.

I'm not overly chuffed with tesco finance.
Called them up on their 0845 number to be told its a 3 week wait for a mortgage appointment on the phone with them (which would take 2 hours to do). So I was advised to apply on an execution only basis online.
I prepare all my paperwork at home, fill out all the salary and outgoing details and all the other rubbish as requested and then I am invited to save the application before continuing. Although, This isn't actually an invitation and it seems I have no choice but To save it before I continue.
However I cannot because I'm filling it out on an iPad and apparently iPads are not acceptable to tesco, but they don't tell you this before you waste your time filling out their fucking form.
Nevertheless, I find a normal computer to fill out the details again, to get an agreement in principle, so I can continue to a full application.
Having done so the application is apparently now referred for further consideration.
If they didn't like my risk ( borrowing 120k against 400k, repayment until I'm 50, and significantly less than x2 our gross income with a spotless credit history) then quite frankly I'm snookered as to who they'll lend the money to.
Im actually tempted to tell them to shove their mortgage and their clubcard points up their backside if they do call me back in 3 weeks or whenever it is.

How much money did you knock off? If we aren't talking big money (say 5-8k ish) you can agree an allowance to complete certain works which your solicitor retains on completion (I think that's the term )
The amount paid at the land registry would be the original figure and essentially its an off the books arrangement so it doesnt effect your LTV and you therefore don't need to tell your lender
