Looks like she has locked her social media down now. Possibly because of stuff said here. Still as I say, she was grotesquely offensive about someone who went out their way to help her when noone else would. Can't help some people I guess. Let's hope she doesn't need to use a solicitor again because I'm pretty sure my mate would tell her to get fucked if I told her some of the stuff extra was saying about her.

I will be a little more circumspect about making professional recommendations online in future.
One member on here (who has seemingly flounced) was having considerable difficulty in finding a solicitor to accept instructions. I recommended my solicitor who I know has the highest professional and ethical standards. She has carried out several transactions for me, for my friends and family, and I would not use anyone else. She is a professional of the highest standing and I have an immense amount of respect for her.
For whatever reason this individual's social media pops up on mine (to whom I made the recommendation on here)- no idea how it all works really, I didn't even know their full name, and I am very, very disappointed with what I see.
My friend would have gone the extra mile with this person, and I am sure things have happened during the transaction whereby things might have not gone entirely to plan or there have been delays, or whatever.
But I certainly don't want to see almost daily character assassinations on my friends character, professionalism, and intelligence- it's very disappointing to see.
Particularly when this individual had difficulties in engaging a lawyer in the first place.
Still, you live and learn.

I know psychologically everyone wants to be mortgage free asap however as said above, very often paying off your mortgage early at the detriment of investing early and loading your pension up, very often was actually the most unwise choice you could have made in your 30s/40s
The older you get the less likely the above will still ring true. And the shit show we are currently in also has thrown a spanner in the works somewhat.
-
All I can say is there is no point in paying off the mortgage 1) if the rate is low-ish and you can offset for a year or whatever in savings and arb it that way and 2) if you're going to inevitably take out another mortgage I personally wouldn't like to get used to not having one and then having to take one out.

Yep.
I got this door for £135 off eBay. It took a few days to sand and fill any imperfections and to then prime and paint it but it was all done, trimmed adjusted and installed by my carpenter for £150.
The whole thing cost me about £350 to do including the paint, new Yale lock etc. I then sold the old one on eBay for £125.

Nice he proof read it.
I'd want to get the rotten roof joists checked out and the bulging ceiling too but apart from that there is little that would worry me.
It's an old house that has old windows and stuff. It's not going to fall down.

@chrisbmx116 the velux look good, is the middle rafter between the windows doubled up as it should be? Might be the angle it's taken from that has led to me asking.

All of that area around there is actually ok (harrow green). I'd have happily have stayed there but the garden was too small with two kids.
My bro in law lives on the same road as the house I linked to earlier and paid 450 in 2017. But his was a bit of a state. He's extended it now and whilst it's not as nice as the 775 one I'd say he's at 725 now after having spent about 75k on it. When will this end?

The housing market is completely fucked.
This would have been 250k unextended back in 2012. Yeh it's had a lot of money thrown at it, but we have had a cost of living crisis, mortgage rates are through the roof, and the asking prices still keep going up.
Makes no sense to me. Perhaps it never will. I sold a similar house for 702k in 2021 and thought I did well to get out then!

The photos of your drum look really good. I'm mystified why they've put yours on so much lower than the Chichester road house they sold a few weeks ago. Yours is much nicer than the Chichester road house imo.
Eta there is a small size delta but yours has a reasonable sized garden and the other one they recently sold has a postage stamp for a garden. I guess it'll all come out in the wash- GLWS.

Well done Tom - you must be mighty relieved.
