Try setting up gears without a chain on. Do it all by sighting along the sprockets and 'through' the chain guides on changer - front and/or rear, top and bottom gears. I do this whenever setting up a new gear train. Get it all to line up using the adjusters. When this is done put on the chain and you may not even need to fine tune it. Worth a try.

I asked one of the ebay sellers where the saddles came from. They said it was from an auction and suggested I didn't bid if I wasn't interested. I wasn't and I didn't. See below:
thay all come from an auction thanks if you dont want please do not bid thanks

Tilover, is the lever braze-on or band-on? If latter you just need move it up a fraction to get adjustment on the thread at the rear. I guess you will have worked that out though. Another way is to use a half-link to put the wheel back a fraction and this will give you adjustment when you slacken off cable to compensate.

Are you still in the boatyard, or on your mooring Jacqui? If you are moving in a short while just forget the rumour-mongers and let them get on with their sad lives. Shame all of this is happening when you are feeling down with the sickness. Can't imagine how you got through all the work of last weekend. Sadly we are too far away to help, but did you mention a man who pumped toilets out? This would be a good start.

If 500 smiling people had a good day on their bikes, enjoyed the company (at whatever level) and raised money for charity surely this can only be a good thing. How British to start moaning at a success and trying to shoot it down.
Well done Jacqui and Ted for creating such a great event and especial thanks to the marshalls and everyone on the ride for making the day what it was.

Thanks Oliver - hope we make it on time. We leave King's Cross at 10.15 (fingers crossed).
