Chris and co at Cyclelab. Took my bike in for a once over. Super friendly welcome, loads of free and useful advice, above and beyond the call of duty on the very well priced service and a bit of a follow up a couple of days later when I had another query. I'll go a bit out of my way to make sure I buy bits from them in future. Chris clearly loves what he does and passes that enthusiasm on.

Woman on way back from gettin her nosebag at some chicken place on globe road yesterday. Didn't look at all, just pootled out infront of me while I was tanking it along. I was screaming "look out look out look out" right up to the moment I collided with her. By which time I'd slowed just enough to wind up giving her a sort of high speed cuddle. Muppet!

Really really unsure about how it feels to have 'conversational' exchanges from here presented as hard news in the broader arena. Is that entirely responsible journalism? Out if the context of the forum it seems morbid and unnecessary... Or am I being over sensitive? Fingers crossed for good news soon.

I think what I'm getting at is that there is often a time when the further out you are in the 'wrong' lane when filtering past traffic, the safer and more visible you are to cars pulling out from the left. Significantly more visible than to a car right turning across you when filtering along the left. I almost always feel safer down the drivers side of traffic when filtering (taking Stallion's opening gambit into account of course). What say you WiganWill?

I think that providing I was in the left lane, I would have right of way but it seems unclear what happens when you move into the oncoming lane.
Dunno how this applies, but I had advanced car training from a former motorway copper years ago and we were driving winding roads. He pointed out that there is nothing wrong or illegal with using the 'wrong' side of the road if it is done correctly and increases your safe use of the road. His example: When approaching a sweeping left hand bend on a clear road, creep into the right hand lane to widen your view of the road and straighten the lines out as you drive through the corner. We're not talking racing here, but sight lines and smoothness. His attitude was 'get over there and use it if there's no one coming the other way'. So I gathered that the entire road is there for your safe utilisation...

Sorry i have no idea, i'm not too hot on road bikes and/or Piranellis! He does look like a smug cunt though and has an air of sneer about him. I see him at least one a week, tempted to put a massive gear on the hipster special and burn past him, that'll piss him off!
Can I just say on behalf of bearded Pinarello riders that we are not all smug, sneering, undertaking cunts. Thankyou.
Oh and may I say that he also sounds like a snob too?

WANTED
I'm casting my net for a multi-tasking everyday bike.
Things I'd like for sure:
-52 or 53cm.
-Currently in working order.
-Lugged steel frame.
-Relaxed everyday / light touring / set up (drops ok but will poss eventually set it up with something like a North Road or even some Major Taylors (yes I know that's a very different set up but I'm seeing what's out there and will base any later choices on what type of machine I end up with).
-Fenders or holes for fenders.
-Metal stem, post and bars. (not carbon or painted up etc).
-Smooth Ride.
-Something I can lock up outside the pub or in a rack with others without panicking.I'm open minded about everything else including the gear set up (if only one, would prefer relaxed commute set up, SS not Fixed).
So if you think you have the type of day to day ride I can fall in love with for less that 200 squid, then I might be your man.
Thanks for looking one and all and for being patient with my open ended ad. I'll know it when I see it...

Have you had words with him? Maybe he's just oblivious.
