It’s not about free speech. It’s about being angry because there are a couple of things left which they’re not allowed to say and do, and they’re livid. It’s about the freedom to exercise those last remaining things (bristling with guns and antisocial rhetoric regardless of the broader effects on the established community).
From where I’m sitting it’s about being free to act with fury... psychopathy. Being free to fuck everyone else’s freedom. Winning. And it’s the winners who whine the most about their freedoms.
Society at large disagrees but they don’t care. So needing a password to exercise their version of freedom is not only unsurprising it confirms their victim status.

We’ll they’re both doing alright for themselves but operate on the basic presumption that there are some bits of privilege as yet unavailable to them and their friends so they’re prepared to act like proper dumbasses in order to grab what they can despite the fact they’ve been winning all along... so yeah - in a manner of speaking he is.

Agreed... but... it does depend on majority. So one easy way to combat it is to establish a society in which the majority of both sides of the political divide can at least have trust or basic belief. Then myth builders and dragon slayers are marginalised in general dialogue and the danger remains fringe. It's still a danger but it's not a civil war. The real threat is when ideologies become amplified by the perception of security being utterly undermined right?
I think we're reaping what we sowed by establishing a very fragile veil over these insecurities in an unjust and unfair capitalist society? But the best solution to what is currently still a fairly manic (but growing) unease is to give stability back.
It all just shows what a house of cards it all is and why states like Russia find it so easy to sow discord with basic interference doesn't it.

Nice one!
I set that little Strava target of doing a 10k in January... Currently I'm hovering at a steady )slow) 6.5k and am very nervous about putting more distance in lest my hip / knee injuries flare. I think it's a massive achievement to have had injury but to be patient enough to get back to 10k like that. Well played.

He was wearing combat gear and a sidearm on the floor of the capital chamber, having broken in, while senators and congress hid in neighbouring buildings. Who gives a fuck whether he found his plastic handcuffs or brought them? Throw the fucking book at him. Once again the fog of web chatter clouds the essential conversation.

Yeah I was thinking this. It’s a difficult balance isn’t it. Obviously footy players seem incapable of bubbling properly but my god it’s a distraction for most of us. I don’t even care about kickball but I’d rather people who do have somewhere to put their anxieties.
