Posted this a while ago but nearly, nearly finished it. Thankfully realised that I didn't need to buy a new rear wheel and could just respace the XT wheel I bought originally. Then had to redish it, something I'd never done before.
Just waiting for a nice set of cantis to turn up on ebay or here and it should be good to go. Oh, and it's going to need a respray at some point as there's some surface rust.
Total build was <£100 (with some bits I already had lying around/came from other bikes/freecycle) and I'm pretty happy with it, to be honest.
Check out those Lidl panniers as well. -

I am in dire need of a headcup removal tool like this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=12337
Does anyone have one? Can someone with a vice, a hacksaw and some pipe make one for me for CA$H?
I have a couple of frames with very stuck cups and a screwdriver and mallet aint shifting them. -

Specialized stealth bike with Sugino cranks for sale on the stolen Bikes and Brooks market off Brick Lane/schafer street (?) half an hour ago. Anyone recognise it?

Seriously, man, just do this. It cost me about £6 for the parts I need from Wickes and it works perfectly well.
I've got enough parts to make another one left over if you want it.Oh, btw, some wide (2" diameter) sturdy washers, sturdy threaded rod (1,5-2x length headtube), two nuts for that threaded rod make you a headsetcup press.. And for the crown race installation: a piece of tube longer then your steerer and an inner diameter of about 1,5"..
Should be available at any hardware store.. Cheap and works well, that's how I do my headset jobs..
Some stuff about in on retrobike..

I'm after a 120/126 spaced rear wheel for a fully loaded tourer. Deore would be perfect, but a strong Ultegra (or equivalent) will do. 36H minimum. I have a HG cassette to go on it so not too bothered if it's knackered, but I'd prefer it in a rideable state, obviously.
Thanks.
EDIT: SORTED. PLEASE DELETE THIS THREAD IF YOU SEE THIS, MODS.

Look real good, and the cassette is tiny!
What's with the racing (look more like TT) gearing on it?
Well... cassettte is coming off as it's missing plenty of teeth, and it's too small. Front rings will be swapped for a triple in time for loaded touring.
There's plenty to do on it but as soon as i swap the cassette it'll be rideable.

Tourer for this summer/winter bike built around a bargain (forum) 90s Randonneur 531ST frame. Does anyone have a Shimano cassette tool I could borrow?
I particularly like the god-knows-how-old Titan stem that came in a box of freecycle bits from Mister K.Rollin' on 35s.

During installation of my new A9 headset last night I managed to drop the part that goes between the needle bearings and the bottom cup/race.
It's disappeared in my shed so I'm left with an unusable bit of metal now.
I don't suppose anyone has that part or the whole bottom assembly they'd give away do they? Otherwise it'll mean importing from the continent.
There's a beer or two in it for you. -
